Are we not going to talk about Capricorn
ill never forget destroying everyone at mid on my medi guard

What’s to say?
Its sad, I loved underwater combat too.
Anet have as usual caved into the negative/QQ brigade:-
-Deleted underwater combat completely from PvP, in the process deleted a entire map.
-Nerfing Warrior/Thief/Engineer more.
-Mainly hitting Warrior/Thief by nerfing Lyssa Runes.
Because of negative players who are always QQ’ing and raging on the PvP forums GW2 just continues its spiral downwards.
Sad thing is those players who QQ and rage and call for nerfs, will just move on to something else to QQ about and call for more nerfs to something else.
Ding, dong, the witch is dead?
Now I don’t have to keep hopping between hotjoins as soon as this map comes up.

Or maybe, just maybe, they actually had numbers that showed how many people actually played the map and how many simply left when they saw it?

Yup i always instantly leave when I get that map.
I think it was done just to relieve the requirement for water combat in pvp.
Regardless, I’d still rather have capricorn in soloQ than skyhammer (and that is a statement about how terrible skyhammer is).
I’d imagine the removal to be stat based. They do keep track of people’s “favorite” map in the panel so they had to be storing the data somewhere.
I for one am really happy about this anyway. Always, had to just click play again when it rolled to this map.
So Sky hammer being deleted soon, lots of qq’ing about that map and Spirit Watch gets some stick too, lets delete those as well.
Not as if there is loads of maps to choose from in sPvP.
Thank you ArenaNet, this was an excellent decision. Having to burst rangers while downed to stop them from licking wounds was insane.
we’ve all seen what happens in games where there’s no disadvantage to taking your pants off.

But are those maps unpopular based on actual game-stats? Or are you just assuming it because a vocal minority is shouting about it on the forums?
Skyhammer is very much played more or less constantly by loads of player for one.

Honestly, I have never seen anyone QQ about the Capricorn map before…underwater combat yes…Capricorn no.
Well, I have seen probably a 100+ different threads QQ’ing about Sky Hammer and perhaps 20’ish about Spirit Watch.
Why not keep Capricorn and just redesign the water part to a land area? Still sad to see the underwater part go but at least you keep a map…
I honestly see this as a cop out. Instead of taking the time to balance underwater combat and adding another dimension to the game. Anet just says forgot it, and removes it. I love underwater combat because it adds a whole new element of fighting.
Sad to see it go.
Heavens Rage

^^ This. I enjoy underwater combat too. It shifts the paradigm of competitive play. (Not that Capricorn was ever available in tPvP.) Adding a Z-axis to a main fight adds so much more complexity to the battle. I just think people are too lazy when it comes to actually focusing. Dat tunnel vision.
Removal of the map is a submissive, easy-out approach on Anet’s part, imo.

Did you mean to add the level of irony for GW1 players?

Lol, the Vocal Minority is shouting? I THINK NOT.

FINALLY!!!
After weeks of complaints, ANet removed the most hated map in spvp!!!
Oh, wait. They removed Capricorn?
…
WHAT??!
Ok, no kidding.
Yes, Underwater combat wasn’t balanced.
Yes, Not very much ppl liked the map.
But have you seen anybody complaining about the map in the last month?
Nobody!
FYI People were complaining about Skyhammer, not kittenin Capricorn.
I mean, Capricorn is Hot Join only, so who cares about its quality?
Instead of removing Capricorn, why didn’t you remove Skyhammer?
I suppose, the only reason why you deleted Capricorn was, that you made you “great” pvp Build and than realized, you forgot to make an option for underwater weapons.
So you simply removed Capricorn.
Eh…pvp underwater combat was imbalanced and lame anyway. I have a feeling they might rework it and re-release a no-water capricorn in the future. It might even be a more-fun map!
One day when things are balanced enough that underwater can be looked at, maybe we will see it return again. It could make a fun hot-join option for those who enjoy it!
RIP Capricorn, a really bad map.
I hope Skyhammer can be deleted aswell.
Most fun map in the entire rotation gone. Defending/Attacking the underwater point is very fun combat. Underwater is fun in general. Balance? Like land combat is balanced – chhhyeah.
Oh the wonderful cannon. Farewell.
One of my favorite moments, in game, ever was trying out spirit ranger in a hotjoin, and getting to capricorn and goin to the ruins and bein like ,“hmmmmz, I wonder how my spirits will be underwater”
then I used`m and I got these dopeass dolphins and a blue whale and I was so happy
<3 Capricorn, I will never forget
Oh the wonderful cannon. Farewell.
Oh the wonderful cannon that no one used because hotjoin = point zerging. So sad since 6-8k dmg per cannon shot was funny.

As mentioned in the amulet/jewel thread I’m sure it was mainly due to balance. The competitive scene needs less variables in order for a closer balance to be achieved and I think these are great steps in the right direction to make the competitive scene grow in terms of balance.
All they need to do is turn the water into ice and adjust the boat a little bit. There really isn’t a need to just remove the entire thing.
What a waste of resources.
