this is merely a suggestion and i know AN said they didnt want to balance the game for a 2v2 or 3v3 pvp game. but i would love to have this option available to me in spvp. my friend and i always go to the BG list and pick a map without anyone on it so we can duel each other. When someone joins the game and it becomes 2v2, i honestly have the most fun in pvp. i love the whole arena tactics and really wish this game had that.

I really want AN to put this in the game.

Well, while i cant say i’d personally find this the funnest mode i cant understand why its not in, the reason they gave today in the interview was dumb at best.

They said that matches were short and everyone just ran in and blew their elites then the match was over, then around the same time admitted that most the conquest maps involve a team fight at the beginning that usually decides the match as the winner snowballs from that point out….basicly a team fight where everyone pops their elites that decides the match, except arena it can end there where conquest drags it out.

So seeing as they ironicly said conquest has the same problem….not sure why we dont have arenas. And tbh if its that big of a problem just disable elites abilities.

Team fight snowballs in conquest would never compare to the sheer kitten that would result from a true arena match. It would be fun just as a non competitive mode to blow off some steam but to balance around? No.

Shadow refuge cloaking an entire team for first strike advantage, time warp, aoe deadzones on corpses which would promote further rez signet play, and lets not forget the griefing that could result from multiple sustain bunker 2v2, 3v3 setups trolling people for minutes on end.

The devs are right, it would be a mess. I’d rather see other objective based modes or TDM with some side win conditions to force strategic play with respawn(‘one death and out’ wouldn’t work in this game).

Dont think it would be as bad as you make it sound. What you mentioned could be countered so many ways, gaurdian puts up a wall where the invis came from or bubbles and knocks everyone back, engineer blows his ae knockbacks, your team waits till they ae invis, then ae invis’s as well insuring they stay invised longer so THEY get the first hit per say. All these things have counter play…..and its still no different than the first fight that happens in conquest. They even acknowledged its a problem. So if they solve the problem in conquest they would also be solving arenas, and the removal of elites would make longer fights.

And from the sound of it they dont sound too fond of rez signets etc. So its possible they will get hit hard to the point they might not be worth the slot, or they may even end up disabled in spvp (or arenas). And i can only imagine rally would be turned off in arenas. (prob should be turned off anyway).

I think it has a place, and theres definitly a community of people want it if nothing else to mess around. Tbh i think conquest is more difficult to balance around as in arena the only rules are Team A wants to kill Team B. In conquest Team A wants to Kill team B but also hold points. Suddenly its not about just balancing around team fights, but balancing around smaller fights as well, bunker capabilities, abilities to fight off points, abilties to move across the map quickly, not to mention each conquest has a secondary that must be balanced around….like the orbs. Just set a number for arenas (preferably 3) and leave it be…..long as people are having fun and playing the game who cares, and i woudlnt be surprised if it became more popular than conquest.

arena combat is coming, actually. everyone seems to forget that custom servers will likely allow node disabling and setting max player limits. they’ve said they will monitor what players will do with the servers and if they can learn anything from it for future game modes.

Arena matches will probably not be implemented soon, but 2v2’s and 3v3’s will be available with custom arenas.

All i want is small scale pvp, 2v2 or 3v3 at most. This kind of anti casual long and boring conquest games is not fun for most of the people thats why pvp is dead, its not because the lack of balance, but because Conquest is boring.

I’ll admit i got bored of conquest pretty fast. I will say i do enjoy temple of the storm on 8v8 hot join as its constant fights anywhere you go.

I enjoy spirit watch despite the heat its gotten about its balance issues …this may be just because its new…but i didnt really get bored of it the entire week it was up.

Outside that, ya…conquest is boring. I still kinda like the idea behind the treb ..destructable objects and the repair kit on Khylo but generally its kinda boring.

TBH, i havent had as much fun in pvp since Reapers Rumble…which while had RNG elements…those coulda easily been changed to be consistant resource nodes that respawned on a timer (the pumkins). And you could have easily gave everyone their profession skills. Map would need to be a little larger, but i loved the tall grass and moba style play style with GW2 own twist on it. (since gw2 moba style wouldnt have a typical gold/item race)

You really (if your not playing with it already internally) should shift to that….and i know it sucks to drop something you’ve been developing, but i dont see why you didnt switch gears to that a long time ago…everyone i spoke to enjoyed it. And i’d happily take 3-4 maps like that to build an E sport around. Just saying. (actually if they had that, i wouldnt care if it was an E sport …it was just fun to play)
