I have played GW1 PvP for 7 years. 7 years! You did a good job there, but GW2 is just a BIG dissapointment.

You should just move on, and come back next year.

I only hope that all the features they’re planning to implement are well tought out. Too many times they’ve implemented stuff that needed serious rework (i.e the whole queuing stuff). It’s a waste of time/resources.

You don’t need solo queue to be a competitive game. Most team games………require a team.

Its about the game mode that shoud be competitve but its not working as desinged. They wanted to make it newbe friendly so they added a possability to play solo. But its impossible to play it competitive as a solo player. There is a important funcion in PvP that is very poor designed.

The best thing for pvp would be to change hotjoin system, make it like lol, you enter match if you leave you get some punishment (not joining another for 15 min or something) and you get rewarded on end for winning not just farming (like 2x glory or something if you win) so people will finally learn to play maps, not just zerg.
Tournaments need to be like: solo queue = free tournament, premade (3+ players joining together) = paid.

I dont know, but the way things are now it just doesnt promote for solo play.

So… you agree there needs to be a “real” solo queue, but solo queue is pointless because it’s a team game. That makes no sense. I can understand your point if you think solo queue needs to be removed from the game, but you can’t support that and say team based play is the only real competitive way to play the game at the same time, it’s contradictory.

Read the bold. I am going to try and be more specific. Being competitive as a solo player is pointless. Why do it? Just find a team if you want to be competitive. This is a team game.

Let me be more specific. What is the point of a non-competitive solo queue if you can just join hotjoin by yourself? The chance at a chest and that’s it? What, to you, is the point of a solo-queue?

I read the bold but you’re still sounding contradictory to me.

Solo queue is a big deal for people who tournament. The problem is that PvP players are a small number compared to other modes such as WvW. If we want PvP to become success, more people need to play.

So, why don’t they? The answer is two fold:

1. Conquest becomes repetitive and boring. People want to duel, and people want team deathmatch. Increase the number of game modes.
2. People spend a lot of time gearing up in PvE, but then can’t use those in PvP. Sure, you don’t want an imbalance, but at least let people use the skins.

you sir , know nothing. let me ask you something , do you enjoy tpvp with your group when you also have to face random groups and win easy and boring? then you arent a real pvp player who wants competition….

Solo-Queue is so important for the game. It attracts the biggest part of the playerbase and is for casuals and new players an absolute “must-have”. Therefore it should work proper, which is at the moment not the case. I don’t know why A-Net has so much problems seperating premades and solo-players, but people are kitten ed off since months of this issue. If this keeps going on the intended result will go into the opposite direction.

The game itself is massively flawed as long as `competitive` play = pre-mades farming solos for rank.

I hope people realize that spending $500 and asking 40ish people to volunteer for 6+ hours to get ~2.8k viewers is completely unsustainable.

Also later in the year when a few other big games come out all the casual 5s teams will probably dip out.
