Looking around, I don’t see arenanet forcing you to buy it. I mean I am going to buy it because 60 bucks isnt that much money.

Edit: If you don’t ever play PvE then you probably shouldn’t buy the expansion nor should you even be playing guild wars 2. Guild wars 2 is a pve game with pvp features. Since I do both i get my money’s worth.

Lucky for you! You do not need to buy the expansion to play Stronghold!! Yippie! The day is saved!

Secondly, There is basically 10 new classes. That isn’t enough for you? Class specializations can wield new weapons (which yield all new weapon skills and utilities) and have a whole NEW set of traits! That is basically a new class….. All new utilities, new weapons and skills and completely new sets of traits….. Your characters look will be the only thing that is the same if you go that route.

As a PvPer, Revenant alone is enuff for me to buy the expansion.

Your Edit is completely wrong. You can fully function in PVP without the other contents of the game. Many people have for long periods of time.

What you said is technically true, but that is like buying a really fast car and never driving it about 60 miles per hour, what’s the point. There are clearly better options out there.

Well considering your post history, I suspect the type of people who are on teamspeak with you are also very similar.

In any case, what we have here is a case of going to a Chinese restaurant to each steak. If you want good steak go to a steakhouse.

That is not what is like whatsoever. If you are purchasing a car you usually have freedom of choice of what you want the car to come with. You can get a standard car that goes fast or you can buy a car with NO, etc.

At the beginning of the game Anet stated they wanted people to play however they see fit. If you didn’t want to grind through 80 levels to pvp there was no need. Therefore an expansion that seems largely to cater to PVE at a fixed price tag just seems like it is going back on Anet’s vision at the beginning of the game. To get the full pleasure of an expansion pack you will have to do PVE.

Btw, my original post is more of a question than an actual statement. I want to see what other people whose main or sole interest is spvp in GW2 are thinking right now about the expansion pack.

My concern with the expansion pack is if I can choose what content I want to play that they’re not providing me enough at the moment with just one additional map and a few other things.

Alternatively, you could always just consider it a pve expansion. Which in many ways it is, but that’s largely because pve players are the largest percentage of the player base. When the majority of your players do mostly pve, then it only makes sense from a business perspective to cater to those pve players. PvP and wvw, though important, are not the focus. But even so, the new wvw map and the new PvP game mode are meant to cater to those groups. Shoot, casual pve players don’t gain anything at all from stronghold.

And specializations effect everything, remember. You might not care about the maguuma maps and some of the masteries, but both the new class and the specializations are meant for everyone. I for one am more excited for specializations than anything else.

If you don’t want to buy it, don’t. It’s that simple. But don’t complain when you lose to rangers over and over because “staff ranger op” or some kitten like that. I swear, the expansion will probably be out for 30 minutes before “HoT is pay to win” threads start popping up.

People who paid for GW2 have higher PvP ranks than people who still play WoW. Pay2Win

As a pvper I don’t see any motive in buying the expansion, stronghold will be courtyard all over again in a same queue with other conquest maps, guess what the final result will be yep Anet will keep insisting with conquest to the end and stronghold will end just like courtyard two game modes which once had a bright competitive esport future but anet never cared about.

and as a person who mainly does wvw/pvp… i’m excited. I’m not going to go over why i’m excited because OP obviously doesn’t seem to want to be excited about new features :P
