Speaking of legendary skins, this PvP one is just stupid in terms of getting it. 3 games per day for 60 days! Some of us play 40 games across 2 days a week due to a thing called real life.
Don’t worry you only have to wait until the end of January for a fix (that probably won’t actually address the issue).

Can I suggest you put this thread forward as ‘constructive’ to the forum manager…
The cooldowns on almost all the new weapon skills/utilities, particularly the defensive ones, are too short across the elite specs. They need to be raised.
Much like the (year late) shave of HS, I’m afraid the solution to this is fairly obvious here.
It’s likely nobody will comment on this thread. They’d all rather argue with a pve dude about legendary skins. But you, you hawk-eyed forum volunteer. Please flag this post as constructive feedback.
At least I can say I tried.
The Elite Specializations are OP. This was revealed in sPvP weeks before ranked play began. A decision was made to allow ranked season and include Elite Specs even with the known issues. The agenda or motivation behind this decision is unclear, but most assume it was made to drive HoT sales even if it meant sacrificing the integrity of the PvP side of the game to fullfill that goal.
One of many signs we’ve been given that if you take the game too seriously (even in PvP, apparently) you’re doing it wrong according to ArenaNet.
I understand business decisions sometimes don’t align well with the community, but have to wonder if they considered the damage to the brand that would come from these mistakes.

personally i’d like to see a reduction in the vanilla skill recharges.
faster skill cooldowns leads to faster gameplay, which is good,
swinging your hammer and then waiting 30 seconds for that skill to cooldown…is bad.

I believe these posts are connected.
The what (that elite specs are OP) is completely justifiable. We are in a capitalist world after all.
But the how is a funnier one – the new specs don’t feel rewarding when used against actual players. This I think is a genuine mistake, in no way intended by the team – or company.
Feedback like the quote above is understandable. People like to be kept actively involved (not spamming 1) and nobody likes being OOC ever.
But the truth is, one of the main (and possibly the only deep) mechanics in pvp is the following.
conservation of cooldowns
The idea is simple; players that hold off on key skills as long as possible will likely win the matchup. This in turn leads to players ‘baiting’ cooldowns, and calling them in team fights.
When cooldowns (I did stress defensive cooldowns) are lowered to a point this meta game devolves into players rotating through defensive skills, irrespective of how opponents are behaving. At this stage they are instead punished when conserving them for not utilising skills frequently enough. This is what most of us term faceroll, and isn’t rewarding pvp. That problem you can’t always put your finger on.
The fix? Raise cooldowns, hence the OP. Unfortunately this isn’t really a balance issue. My hope is that someone who already thinks this from the team decides to act on it and makes another pass on E-spec cooldowns…

I’m by no means a pro player, but I’d like to see another resource pool that limits what you can do in a short amount of time.
You could have all of these cool skills on lower cooldowns, if it were costly to use them in some other way.
cough mana cough
As it is now, I’ve always felt like the game was a bit too straightforward.
But idk, maybe that’s the traditional RPG player in me talking.

No offense, but didn’t you recently write a goodbye letter? Yet here you are.
This is why they don’t need to concern themselves about ‘brand’ and ‘damage’ in PvP. Players either accept, or they threaten to quit, ..but never do and keep on playing.
When the week comes that not one person logs into any Pvp..that’s when you’ll see changes come more quickly.
