Asuras in pvp
There hitbox is the exact same as other races, so I believe you don’t need to click on the actual asuran body.

I find giant norn mesmers to be ALOT more annoying. Too much crap going on, on my screen to see what I need to.

YES you are right. But in reality is different. Is much harder to click and see what is going on cuz they so small. + harder to evade attacks and everything that comes with that….
Anyway, your is just a “formal” theoretical answer so I guess you are playing Asura. Every player that doesn’t play asura can agree with me that they are very annoying and harder to fight then other races.
And is an huge disadvantage when you fight somebody that knows how to use Asura factor well in his favor.

At least you kittenin see them. And what are they doing.
LoL not this thread again…seriously?
Personally I do find that Asura have a natural advantage of being hard to see in PvP than other classes.
But hey, not like Arenanet would ever remove them from PvP.
This game was designed from an artistic viewpoint, not a practical one.
I got used to fighting them as a lot roll asura for PVP purposes. Being a norn myself and warrior at that, its easy to read my animations, asura’s are harder to read, but after a while you get used to it really, at least i did. This is just a early stage thing that I think you need to get used to first.
i just don’t like that everyone playing one in pvp uses an ugly face

I hate asuras, they’re too small comparing them to the norns and charrs. Human should be the smallest size in pvp. Besides fact that asuras are not enjoyable to fight against, they’re not enjoyable to watch as well. Anet wants e-sports? Haha, i am sure that common viewer will just leave the tournament stream after 5mins when he will see 5 asuras vs 5 asuras, this is unpleasant to watch.
Well, most of “Pro” players play minimal size asuras. And they’re often mesmers. It’s annoying, but comparing my Charr to asura…erm…it’s like comparing The Alien to E.T. All I want from ANet is “Ratslayer” title

I agree with Obly. The small size is an advantage while you are still getting used to fighting them. However, once you get used to it (it doesn’t take long), it’s not much of a problem at all.
OP, try combining tab targeting with your click targeting to see if it helps. For clicking, you don’t have to click on the actual body.
And btw, many pros do not use asuras so I don’t expect to see 5 asuras v 5 asuras unless the players are doing it whimsically.

LOL,talk from reality, I think we have some people even smaller size than a Normal Human. And game is way far from reality,

Play a non Asura in pvp. Then roll Asura with the same class. Take note of your improvement and enjoy.
I guess people just not get used to the animation of Asura yet. They sure have different animation compare to all other class, we also have the options to zoom in and out ad well. Also when is the last time you guys check your visions?I wear glasses and see np with dueling Asura,I dont see any reason why others have problem with it?Asura race is part of the Gw2 story, so no you won’t see the race go extinct.

Lets also be honest and say that if GW2 ever went Esport (erm…. hypothetical statement), then any tournament rules would ban Azura.
They are crap to watch from a spectator point of view, since its hard to depict what they are actually doing. This is the point of esport after all.
I think if we even start to see more and more organised GW2 tournaments, then the tournament rules will enforce this. Lets face it , it takes 2 minutes to reroll a reasonable sized character.
With most of player playing Asura not because of their advantage, but because of their culture, their looks, and their funny jokes, etc… If I don’t see people complain about Drwaft in WoW for being too hard to watch or whatever reason, I see no reason why Asura deserve that. Let be honest, Gw2 still have a long way to go Esport. And let be honest, it is not fair to force a player leave their favour race behind just because of some people find them hard to watch. It is like saying Black people can not enter a public place for white people just because they are black. Really, racist now starting invading in games as well??

Never played wow but I heard it has casting bars, unlike gw2.
Gw2 also have skill that require casting bar. It is called Chanel Skill.

Lol Stealth, going racist in game? Seriously? That’s your argument? You clearly didn’t read the posts here.
While I think asura’s ARE a bit unfair and annoying as heck, it’s not that giant of a problem, but in a serious tornie, if it ever gets to the point where everyone agrees that using asura is unfair, it doesn’t matter if a player prefers it, it’s about what the creators of that tournament think. It’s not “unfair” because competitiveness isn’t about personal flair.
After reading all the post, I understand that your problem with Asura for being too small to predict. My argument is the action animation of Asura is different with other races. You people just need to learn the animation and I myself wearing glass can duel an pop Asura with no problem, I don’t see why everyone else should have problem with it. In a serious tournament, it is being unfair for the player that like to play Asura forced to choose other race because of some spectators. First, it is impact their mental, who can play well while being forced to do so. Second, it is the habit, the action that the new race give off, they have to adjust the angle, the animation, the speed,etc..So clearly forced a player that play Asura regularly to different races in tournament already put them in a big disadvantage bf the fight even start, if you knw what I mean. Sorry for broken English.

I cannot believe this thread keeps popping up, month to month. From my personal experience, I have two thieves, one human and one asura. The playstyle is the same. I feel like I am in no greater/lesser advantage playing either. It is the same.
This whole argument is incredibly preference, and opinionated. Asura, are not harder to click on, harder to see, or easier to play.

Reality? This is a fantasy game. God forbid something is not realistic.

Many games that have appearance modification, especially height have never complained bout this. Take for example Aion where characters can be even smaller than Asura are here. Look at tera online where u even have a crosshair to target, then it could be called harder. But here where u can click even above the character still targetting it. I myself use tab to target. Maybe that helps out. I have never had issues with asura when playing my Sylvari.
If you don’t know what someone is doing you just need to play more.
Each class has 5 skills per weaponset. Once you find out what weapons they are using; you should know what skills will be used.
Mesmer with a sword? Expect the dumb clone that rushes towards you > root > Sword#2.
I play an Asura because I like the race more than the others. I don’t find them hard to fight at all because I’m not actually fighting against an Asura. I’m fighting against a warrior\mesmer\thief\guard\engineer\elementalist\ranger or necromancer.
I used to find norn mesmers to be a PITA because they are huge and block field of vision in a team fight. Lucky for me they all re-rolled Asura.

There should be an option so that everyone but you appears as team colored humans and it would be fixed.
Otherwise you’re better playing asuras. They are smaller so your team will see more clearly what is happening and you will be harder to read for your enemies. Asura master race.
Tbh I play both with humans and asura (one actually, my Warrior, because animations are so smexy compared to human Warrior) and I never have the problem recognizing the animations, asura or not. I don’t get why you people have such a problem with it.
Tip: Watch for actual skill animations (all the flashes, trails, colors), not animations on character itself. They’re all the same no matter the race. Only exception here is Warrior, their skills don’t flash so you just gotta learn their character animations. But seriously, when was the last time anyone was afraid of Warrior?
As for mesmers, the smaller the character, the better if you ask me. Less pink clutter all over my screen.
i just don’t like that everyone playing one in pvp uses an ugly face
Not everyone! I play with the cutest Asura EU!

Long Ear, Cute Face, Sharp Teeth, most of all their “cruel” joke and modern culture and technology, make Ausura one of the most enjoyable class to play, besides Charr, my second favorite…

Its not a big deal but really Asura should never have been a model if they were serious about e-sports. There is a slight advantage to the smaller model.
Why you didn’t remove asura from pvp from the start if you wanted esports ? This could be a great and popular pvp game if you could rethink some of the mechanics and rewards…

Here are the basic facts on this matter: Yes playing asura at the smallest size gives you a marginal but relevant advantage by making your animations harder to spot in a game where they matter a LOT. If you don’t like how they look or want to play one (that would be me) you’re unfortunately at a bit of a handcap.
Fixing it would be quite simple all races (but asura) should have their smallest size be about 20% smaller than it can currently be while the tallest remains the same. This means there would simply be a larger range of size. The small end for Asura is then increased by 20% making their range lower. Tiny humans and human sized chars would be cool and give players more options in pve, in addition to those changes bringing the races just a enough closer together in pvp for it to become a non-issue.
