How do you dodge something when you can’t even see it ?
They daze before any damage happens.
Dodge asap when you see the daze and you negate all the damage.
Revert back the dh to what it is during the final beta weekend it’s pretty balance. Currently its 2 overpower In term of damage, utility and of cause broken graphic making it impossible to dodge

You do realize how kittened it is to say “if there’s a DH on a point go somewhere else” right?? They could literally release a new elite that 1 shots everyone in a pbaoe and you could say “just avoid him” lmao. Wait, DHs already do that.

We all know if these were ranger traps they would have been useless by now.

No, no, no. Ranger traps are especially useful against things like diamond skin and boons like resistance. Yes, yes… Very, um, useful. In most cases you have only 4 or 5 seconds to dodge/walk out of them before taking somewhere between 0 and…. maybe a few thousand damage. At least rangers don’t have to say l2 dodge noob. There really is no need to dodge them…
Ranger traps are OP- that’s why none are instant cast. Thief traps even more so.
I’ve seen 2 eles in my last 9 matches. Meanwhile I’ve seen 6 DH in a single match.

DH is very good, they set traps for close fight, or use longbow for ranged fight. In either way, they are strong.

Except you can dodge traps…Even the instant ones don’t activate until after a small moment of time(right after the daze).
I think his point was that “just dodge it” is a lame reasoning because you can dodge pretty much everything.
I mean really, they could put in a ability that hits for 20k that bounces across five targets with 1200 range and you could still “just dodge it.”
If dodgability is the definition of balanced then there has never in the entire history of this game been a overpowered class.
Uhmmm… Warrior Killshot, Ranger Killshot, Mesmer Shatters, Warrior Hundred Blades, Thief pistol pistol spam… the walls are easy to dodge through… sorry never had an issue with them… or you can just bunker up until they dissapear and they are gone for 30 seconds and I face off against a guardian with 12k hp and no defensive stats…
Don’t pretend like people should be able to eat the walls and shake it off.. they are a utility… if you walk through a firewall you take 3 stacks of burning dealing 5k damage and nobody ever kittened, and those can be placed from a range ontop of you…

What’s aether blast? Btw, meteor shower doesnt hard-cc the whole point.
That is why I started to play (no HoT only core) staff cele ele or engi with mortar elite. Especially with engi + mortar + long range it is pure fun. But DH is an imbalanced class forspvp, where you have to fight on a small point, and dodging out means you lose points.

My warrior, with your average zerk build, can hit 17k on his 100b (burn stun breaks and hit 50% HP and its insta GG). My thief can land 10-12k unloads. BP > HS+steal with procs is over 10k as well. My guard can whirl for almost 9k (a lot more of I throw in SoW).
You can argue everything else like how it covers the entire point, how they burn your dodges using LB2 and then daze you with traps so you can’t use your utilities and get eaten up all while fighting from 1200 range or how they have an kitten of CC, but let’s not cry about damage here like they’re the only ones that can burst.
What? 100b takes a huge effort to set up the attack properly and most of the times it doesn’t land all 8 strikes on the intended foe. 100b channel is actually 3.5 second long and with 8 separate strikes while traps’ are instant. How on earth did you compare the two?
100b is easy to setup, you just press 2, some chose to stand in it, some leave, the cycle of life

Too bad there is no class that can even compare to amount of bs this class has in thier disposal… Even when meta was somehow healthy Medi guard were bursting enemy with UTILITY SKILLS. I have only played two classes since HoT release and I have beaten competent traditional/metabattle DH on my power ranger (though my pets usually gets blown up in the process), same goes on the power shiro/herald sw/Shield + hammer rev, both in spvp and in guild halls. It really does help creating a DH for yourself, take it to hotm and look at traits and skills so you can make a sense of what they have at their disposal, and work your way around it. I actually prefer figthing DH cuz they are very distinct/have a set rotation so you can easier predict them. It’s important to find a way to trigger/avoid their traps without eating damage yourself (ranger pet, rev hammer 3), while also dodge/avoid their LB 2.
Of course not all classes have it the same vs x class, but thats just how the world is and should be. In any event i fear an auramancer (Tempest) or chrono more than a DH, but thats cuz I currently play ranger and rev.

there are only 2 guardian mains in NA pro leagues (of the 40 players) and maybe up to 2 more playing on alts who can switch. hardly that OP… especially when they instant die to focus

Unfortunately, that’s the very difference between 100b in pve and pvp where no one with a brain would stand eating all 100b strikes.
