I used to think this didn’t really matter, but when you are put in combat prior to a match, you can’t swap your skills or traits while in the arena. I know you can just say that we could fiddle around in hotm, but we shouldnt have to.

Yeah seriously, you don’t have to drop down into the combat area you know. The most common sense thing to do is to not leave spawn until you’ve got everything set up properly.

Actually, on certain maps it is possible to be hit by grenades and other attacks while standing at the spawn point (definitely on Skyhammer).
