Auto balancing comedy..
One of many reasons why hotjoin will most likely be scrapped from the game in the near future. PvP is just a real mess right now, anet is starting to work on it though.
That is a big downside to the ‘easy access’ philosophy Arenanet has towards sPvP. It’s slightly annoying, but hardly gamebreaking because hotjoin heroics are all about the glory pts. As long as the teams are balanced, the glory is rolling in, the ‘win’ is pretty inconsequential.
I’ll give you that it is annoying, though.

I instaleave games where I get autobalanced. Screw that.

Down with the braindead faceroll classes.
It’s one of the reasons why I don’t enjoy playing in hotjoins. I know some people enjoy being able to hop in and out whenever they want. They leave because their team is behind, or because they don’t like guardians, or because there aren’t enough people in the room. That’s fine.
The problem is that hotjoins are one of the only two options for solo players. Especially since free tournaments are plagued with issues right now, this is a bad time to be a casual or semi-casual PvPer.
Personally, if I don’t have at least an hour to play, I don’t log on any more because I know my chances of getting an interesting match are low.
Hotjoins are a mess. yap.
True true true, why should you work harder to pull the losing team you switch to, with no extra rewards. Pfft.
ANet really should have just taken a page from WoW’s book on how to build casual non-ranked games. At least then you could queue with your friend/loved one and not be thrown on the opposite team and pitted against eachother.
Basically as it stands now, there’s no penalty for just joining and ditching for another game if you’re losing, so there’s little to encourage people to keep fighting a tough game and the reward for being on the winning side can often be a loss as what happened with the OP.
This was in the notes, if you get switched over, you should still get the win bonus.
If you get switched over you will (irregardless of the outcome) get:
- The bonus points you get for winning.
- 5 extra Points for “volunteering”.
- A “win” in your statistics.
- A chance at a somewhat balanced team.

Exactly!! and that is why team switching is
A) beneficial to your stats
B) ensures the win bonus for you
C) keeps a room even

Am I good?… I’m good.
yeah i gave up on the spvp in this game im no hardcore pvper but i enjoy a few matches here and there i came because everyone said gw pvp is soooo super good well i dont see any fun in it. Usaly its 1 or 2 vs 5 and if you 10 points behind 90% of the team leaves i have yet been in a full match that was balanced and i been playing for 2 months now
I will tell u a secret, u know all these people that say I like the challenge of playing in the loser team, wining so easy is boring, etc etc ?
They are lying, thats why u need autobalancing, and it happens in all the games, not just Guild Wars 2. I’ve seen what happens in a game without autobalancing (BF3 at launch), teams end up like 32 vs 10, and the next round the server is empty. It was funny to see. And kitten
Okay, I seriously had no idea that it had been fixed….since 1st October!

(It’s kinda hidden away and I didn’t sPvP at that time, so I had no idea)
Autobalance functionality has been updated to give a new volunteer bonus to any players who volunteer for balancing, as well as giving any players balanced the winner bonus. When volunteers are lacking, random selection will be used. The text for this system has also been updated.
Why haven’t Anet shed more light on this? Like maybe a blog post? I am certain that almost every sPvP player quits if they’re chosen as a volunteer because they don’t know about this! Please make this change more visible, like an ingame message briefly telling the player what they get after being either forced to volunteer or if they volunteer by themselves.
