Autobalance, please get rid of it!
If the system put you in the loosing team , will you get less rewards?

You get half the reward track progress afiak. And it is not really about the rewards for me, it is more about playing a good game and getting a deserved win, or a loss. I mean I play DOTA 2 and the only reward for winning there is a number added to your total score, but it is the feeling that you get after a good game that is the reward for me. And the current pvp matchmaking system just does not offer that. Half of the game one team is outnumbered and the other is at the risk of getting put in that team. So it is really not fair for both teams.

In hotjoin, auto-balance volunteers always get win rewards, no matter the outcome. You might want to start clicking that volunteer button.

Again, it is not about the rewards, it is just about the way the game feels.
its not the auto balance that is at fault, it is how abusable it is when mixed with spectator and team select, and how unwilling Anet are to fix it,
hotjoin used to be so much fun, now every single match is just a vile heap of spectator exploiters and onesided-cheap victories, its not fun for anyone.
all anet have to do is disable spectator and team select, or spend the time to improve them with restrictions, buts lets be real, they aren’t gonna do anything.
Solo Arena and Team Arena both have team selection and spectating disabled, and penalize quitters. I highly recommend you try Arena out now that it is free to play.
Hotjoin, as of now, is only used for testing builds. It is unclear whether that is intended.
I actually think auto balance is a good thing. The change that needs to happen is that people should not be allowed to join the winning team when the match has an even number of players on each team.
Watch the next game. If it is a 4v4 and the score is 300-100, the next person will almost always join the winning team. That makes the game even more of a blow out, and then people on the losing team quit, and the auto balance kicks in.
I agree the newest player should be forced to join the losing team… but that’s gonna cause problems as well

I was looking for a post like this to respond to!
Auto balance is annoying, but what really grinds my gears about the feeling of hotjoin is that you can spectate, force an autobalance, and then join the winning team. Not only that but you KEEP the points you earned while on the other team (thus automatically getting credit for the game too).
One of my friends got into to pvp for a while, and we would join hotjoins together and have fun. He would get annoyed we kept getting split it up, but whatever, we would always volunteer for autobalance and try to both go to the losing team. But then he started to notice that the people we were fighting against would simply swap behind us. This was especially deflating for him and made him feel as if other people simply and continually took credit for his wins. This is really silly when reward tracks are tied to winning or losing in hotjoin. I know it’s only hotjoin, but for new players this is how they get into it.
I don’t care about autobalance per se but please do not let people leave and rejoin the SAME game. If they leave, that’s it, 10min CD to rejoin that game or something (and custom arenas could turn this option off).
auto balance is working as intended, the problem lies with the players not wanting to play even 5 vs 5 games.
games are often
5 vs 4
4 vs 3
3 vs 2
with many players spectating, waiting to join the winning team.
yup got scammed with this tonight! how awesome!
If the problem lies with people not wanting to join the losing team because inferior rewards, resulting in situations where everybody’s waiting in Spectate to join the winning team, or forcing autobalance before joining the winning team, then here’s my solution:
If you pick “Random Team” when you join a match, you get DOUBLE the rewards at the end of the match (up to the winner’s normal reward). This means that if you picked a random team, and your team ended up losing, you’d still get the same rewards as if you’d lucked out onto the winning team anyway. There would thus be no incentive to hop teams, or wait until it becomes clear which team is superior.
Coupled with the fact that rewards are given out based on time played, this means it’s most profitable to instantly hit “Random Team” the moment a match starts, and then see it out to the end, win or lose.
