Balance FIRST, release AFTER
http://www.Twitch.tv/BringYourFriends
I’m a strong believer that if you release a game, you should have it with all of it’s core features already in the game at launch, being as balanced as possible. And if you cannot meet those standards I would “willingly” wait for a better game to be released instead of patching it as you go. People don’t tend to stick around while you tend to something in which you should have looked at prior. I also understand that there will be some things that you cannot think of until the game is literally in the hands of the consumer.
But it’s been like 2 months in and there are so many problems with PvP I wouldn’t even know where to begin. Here are just a few on the top of my head
-Block bug on guardians
-Invis Rendering Issues with Invis taking longer it should be on mesmers and thieves
-Necros have probably the most bugs in the game
-Thieves being able to 3 to 4 shot peopleI can name many more but the point is those things listed are game breaking. People should not be punished for something that is either out of their control, or being abused by other players. There is no balance in that. People will simply leave before it gets fixed without a second thought.
Also why not add these features
Dueling
1v1 Arena Deathmatch
2v2 Arena Deathmatch
3v3 Arena Deathmatch
5v5 Arena DeathmatchFor those that are against this idea, simply do not play. Simple as that. I have wanted a 1v1 Deathmatch in any Mmo for as long as I can remember, and if you think this is unbalanced, just make a ladder and don’t give anyone rewards for it. I would still play just because I would want to face up against other professions from all servers for there mere fun of it.
When this game was released, where was your marketing? Where ever it was, it was horrible. I believe this game has A LOT of potential but you guys did a poor job of spreading the word. At least a month before Mists of pandaria was released every commercial on twitch was….you guessed it, mists of pandaria every single time. Long story short you did a poor job on letting the public know that you had a great unfinished game ready to roll.
Overall I think lots of people will leave this game really soon. I have lots of great games coming out next week and I don’t really see any reason to stay to try and find a 5 man team who is of equal skill as me, coordinate a time and try and wait in 30 minute ques to play a unbalanced game which should of been looked at and fixed sooner. You should of literally held back the launch, made people wait. And come out with a nice polished, balanced, finished game. But instead I feel as if you rushed it when it comes to terms with PvP balance. And you are losing your players for it.
Let me know your thoughts, thank you for reading. have a good one.
There is no reason to have 1v1 arena and dueling they simply bump heads with one another. 5v5 DM arena makes no sense also. Already have a 5v5 bracket, its just conquest style.
And I games always comes with bugs when they are released. You will also have people looking for stuff to exploit. I don’t know why some of these bugs are not fixed yet, I am not on Anet’s Q&A. But honestly, if you are going to act like you know something about how a game should be marketed besides playing it on twitch.tv, maybe you should just go work for Anet since you seem to know a lot about it, and telling them they did it wrong.
Fixed a few typos for you.

Thanks for the correction. Anyone can tell if a game has been marketed or not. And I’m not acting to know. Because if they did a decent job promoting their game then it would have….wanna take a guess at it? More players. I don’t need to market for A-net to let them know they did a poor job.

And 5v5 deathmatch makes perfect sense, if you don’t want it, don’t play it, it does not hurt you in any way shape or form if you choose not to partake in it. Same with 1v1

Because there are so many builds for each proffesion, unlike other games where theres usually a few different trees you can spend traits/talents in. I think its going to be impossible to balance 1v1.
At the moment they seem to be only doing nerfs to the OP builds that stand out alot, and that people cry about. Pistol whip, then backstab (signet) for example.
I cant imagine them fine tuning abilitys to make absolutely everything balanced, but i can imagine them nerfing the next OP build thats discovered
I only agree with thieves 2 shotting people/ 3v3 arena/ and necros being the most buggy class ever… kitten pls fix minion Ai lol
1 vs 1 would be perfect to test bugs out in the game though. This way we could confirm easier if necros get more lifeforce from that tree, show to devs grasp never works on a moving target, show them how easy it is to avoid necro root from the dagger. Show them that thieves and warriors and such can easily burst out 12k+ damage in a second. 1 vs 1 would be perfect to test out many many things.

@ gamefreak
Im sure they already know about 1v1 problems, and i bet they are thinking that if they implement 1v1, people will see deeper into the flaws of gw2
It is very odd for a game like this not to have a duel/ 1 v 1 option. People WANT to duel their friends for fun and to improve each other’s skills, test out builds, etc. Right now if you want to 1 v 1 you’ll have to go on a empty server, but any outsider can just join in, so you’ll have to switch to another empty server if you wish to continue.
They’ve already stated they were working on duels, game types , etc. They are also working on bugs. I’m sure they had a deadline they had to meet, and the publishers pushed them to release. Things aren’t so black and white when it comes to releases these days.
Anet has done a great job of communicating with the community, and even better job not flailing the nerf bat wildly because of forum whiners.
Communities simply lack they patients they used to have. We used to prop companies up, trying to help them make the best game possible. Now we do everything we can to tear them down.
5v5 >3v3
3v3 is too small 5v5 allows an actual team with a balanced team setup of professions and what they are doing as far as support/dps/control goes.
1v1 is dueling no reason for 1v1. Also things like stuns and moa become less noticeable with larger numbers 5v5 would seem to be ideal in this game, possibly more ideal than the 4v4 arenas in gw1 (not saying better) just more ideal for this gameplay due to giving you an extra slot for support instead of running one monk for support. If these formats come out I’d like to see moa break after the opponent receives around 50-75% of his remaining hp in damage after the moa has been casted. Prevents moa spiking, leaves some room so it doesn’t break accidentally all the time making it useless, however, it then becomes a decision do you want to spike that target and break it or disable him? I’ve seen rifts polymorph break on any damage, and it was nearly completely useless because any aoe or any accidental damage broke it and it was almost always instantly broken.

1v1 is only possible when every class has the same skills and damage. Otherwise it’s rock versus paper and well…that’s not really indicative of your skill if your class has an inherent handycap verses another, but an advantage over yet another.
