Balance patch is unbalance
Game needs to be balanced around effects like eviscerate and dragons tooth. Those should be the norm for what constitutes a burst skill. Almost all meta burst specs are based around effects with as little tells as possible. And lets be realistic a skill that takes off more than 50% of someones hp alone requires even more than 3/4s notice. Fire/Air is a large culprit but is hardly the only one. Personally weapon sigils being removed entirely would be healthy for the game.
Even condi has gotten really weird role wise. They can burst like a power build but I would have thought they would be designed as the sustained damage type.
Best description for Gw2 I can give it now is an FPS with a convoluted and cluttered screen. I don’t think there is a market for that. For Gw2 PvP I think people expect much slower gameplay with more strategic thought into skill use. Definitely not spam damage skills on cooldown with just a small bit of attention to things like blinds, blocks and evades. A bit of a simplification but really the thought that goes into skill use is definitely much too low.
Take some time to adapt but it will be fine. Really, if you just played once and didn’t even try to adapt why make a post on forums ? So many people are crying without even trying.

Adapt? dunno but i’m always playing pvp and only pvp after getting the stuff i want in pve because pve is really boring the only challenge i can find is in pvp but now most classes are broken i hope arenanet won’t wait 4 months to fix this. My other duel partner pre patch a mesmer we tried our same build but he melted me faster than before i can escape but now it feels like there is little room to react. And it’s not just one build since we counter each others build so we change it after every match.
I was complaining like day one or two… But I have changed some of my build to compensate to this power increase.
Are you playing Celestial, Berserker or another build without Thoughness and/or Vitality? If so I advice you to play alittle more defencive. I have noticed that when I changed my Berserker Meditiation build to a Cleric Meditation looking build I started surviving living very long. With my engineer I swapped out Cele to Carrion and now I can handle 2 Vs me sometimes and survive realy long. The good thing is, since many still plays Berserker I still kill them pretty quick and easy. The new Conditions though makes it harder but it still works imo.
But I do think that Damage output in PvP and PvE is though a little to high. In PvP I rather DPS down a downed player than stabbing and in PvE well before stuff wasn’t that hard, now it’s not even remotly challenging… :P

They have pretty much ruined the Game , cant even understand how these changes can get through any testing process. Even my 83 year old Grandmother would be able to figure out this isnt working before releasing it.
Its only burst burst burst now , no need for learning your class or figure out a n1 PVP build . The MEta is Burst , combine that with Range and Stealth ( mes. ) and whoohooo

Yes i tried changing my build and go defensive or balance of both defense and offense but the dps is crazy just like i said if they want to keep this dps so high they have to change the behavior of other classes skills because getting stun 450 meters range or daze again and again without being able to react is annoying.
It’s fine with me if other classes like ranger 1500 range to knock back me if it’s telegraph so i can dodge it because it’s my fault if i got hit.
But what is happening right now is you can’t react to the skills that other classes are doing and the damage is also high that it could kill you in seconds(blink then stun to death is not funny).
well i’m just gonna say this before the warrior mace burst is close range and it’s not telegraph but the community whine a lot then Anet decided to make it telegraph so you can see it and able to react if you got hit then it’s your fault not paying attention to the animation but what is happening right now is most classes got buff but most of their skills are instant cast that you cant have a room to tell when to dodge it and because of the buff damage you will end up down state in short no player skill required just press the skill button you win. i only play warrior since the game release but i can win in every class i tried after this june 23 patch where is the skill on that?

This. I’ve played engineer a long time now and have gotten pretty good at it. Now a new person can play it and just blow things up and do just as well as I do. Nothing is really skillful. It’s just BURST BURST.

Sometimes it only takes smelling the BS once to find out “yeah, that’s BS”
I’ve got 955 hours logged in the game, at least a third of that in spvp and the other third in wvw. I wholeheartedly agree with OP here, it doesn’t work the way it is now. Sure you can spec around it, go more tanky, survive longer, but high burst skills need to telegraph so you can react. Otherwise there isn’t skill involved, it’s just who presses attack first.
Cuz you know… hard counters being more prevalent, as well as passive defenses and endless healing being the majority of the old meta making a lot of builds unviable to accommodate was totally balanced.
I don’t see a problem with players having to actually out play their opponents by avoiding things that actually shift momentum regardless of build… as opposed to every viable build just getting it’s momentum back for free.
Tho I do agree there should be more setup… I dunno how you struggle with mes GS blink combo tho, pretty easy to avoid and they just blew their escape lol.
