Not everyone can be happy with a particular change. A change will make a group of players happy whereas other unhappy and the forums will always have players crying foul that the developers are doing kitten and the game is badly unbalanced.

I have been seeing such posts from years in WoW and here the situation is no different. It would be more useful for new players in GW2 like myself, that instead of people crying foul that some other class which they are not playing is OP and needs a nerf which their class needing a buff, rather create threads about what makes their toon’s class nice and how good they are in their gameplay, so that others can benefit from the same?

If you think that your current class is the worst but another class is perfect, then roll that class and help others roll for the same as well, rather putting up posts asking for nerfs! It is really boring.

Having said all this, may I now request veterans that please help me choose between Dragonhunter vs Reaper vs Revenant (not sure what) if I wish to play a Tank + DPS role in PvP teams and scale up higher in the league.

Lastly, it would be great if veterans and players running PvP premades create LFM threads and help us get rid of the evercrying players here.

Regards

Dr. SDG

Idk much about reaper or rev, but I’ll drop some DH knowledge.

DH (or rather guardian in general) doesn’t excel at dealing tons of damage without putting themselves in an extremely compromising position or just using a plain stupid build (full trap). In terms of bunkering (tanking a point) with DH, its totally possible with DH, Valor, and your choice of either virtues or honor.

For weapons, I’d recommend staff and mace/focus.

For utilities, I’d recommend shelter, fragments of light, signet of judgement, and your choice of either purging flames, procession of blades, hold the line or stand your ground. For the elite skill, I’d take either dragons maw or renewed focus.

The DH line grants you hunters determination, hunters fortification, and piercing light. Now, you may have noticed a general lack of condi cleanse from the utilities. That’s because Hunter’s fortification not only reduces damage taken by 10%, but it cleanses conditions every time you block with a 1s ICD (internal cool down). Mace, focus, shelter, and all of your aegis will all become cleansing powerhouses for you. Remember, if cleanse is still an issue, you can take purging flames for the psychological effect (OMGBLUEFIRE?MUSTBEBURNGUARD,RUNNNNN) and because it cleanses conditions every time you cross its barrier (you cross, wait for its buff to wear off, run back through). Hunters determination is self explanatory. Stun break, more aegis, more stability, 1s daze. Piercing light is self explanatory as well.

Valor grants you smiters boon. It procs smite condition every time you use shelter which has great cleanse, but you could take focus mastery for more protection and the CD reduction. I don’t recommend strength of the fallen because in higher leveled matches, if you’re downed and they’re controlling the point, they’ll leave you to bleed out and stay downed for as long as possible to keep you out of the fight (especially if they know you’re a bunker). Next, you can either take strength in numbers. Communal defenses would be nice, but it needs a lower ICD to be effective. For your final trait in valor, you pick up altruistic healing. This boosts your mace symbol and makes empower on your staff burst heal for a whole lot.

Now, you’ve got to decide between honor and virtues. Honor grants you that sweet res support, along with the buff to your staff. Personally, since you would be running at most, 1 shout, I would take force of will for the increased healing and sweet chunk of health.

If you decide to take virtues, you take the usual consecration mastery, absolute resolution and indomitable courage for a party wide cleanse, stun break and protection (not sure how well this synergizes with DH virtues, so some further clarification would be required here).

The goto amulet here is cleric, but I’m not sure how well the newer amulets would fare vs it (could be better). With this build, I’d recommend monk runes.

Of course, this is all different from your stock shout bunker guardian, but I figured I’d give the new DH toys a try and found this to be effective. As you’ve probably noticed, theres not much DPS with this. If you want good dps/tank (aka you wanna play something OP) take scrapper. Idk much about scrapper, so I can’t help you there.
