Ban multiple profession picks from paid tpvp
Could be interesting. And probably it could give devs much less work to balance then..
anyway im going fowarad for custom tournaments where it will be based on what rulez i would like to have
Considering you only need to make a level 2 character for PvP, might as well just so people doesn’t grow too attached to one character.
Also would prevent you to take your friends into payed tournaments because they both like the same profession forcing him to join a different grp and play with ppl he didn’t want to.
I see your point but I disagree.
Considering you only need to make a level 2 character for PvP, might as well just so people doesn’t grow too attached to one character.
excuse me but ppl play however they want with whichever profession they want and not you nor anyone has the right to FORCE them to play a different profession.
It’s not my case i pvp with 3 different professions but i obviously have a favorite one that i prefer to take to payed tournaments.
I’d rather see the ability for each side to ban one profession per map. (Of course only in competetive events, i.e. leagues, championships and whatnot) I think it would promote teamcomp diversity as well as tactics diversity. Plus, you can spec multiple professions into the same role (i.e. node defending guardian, engi, necro etc). That prevents teams from using teamcomps and tactics that beat the vast majority fo other tactics and thus making every match a mirrormatch in high level gaming.
\\Also, it would give the devs a good indication of what is overpowered and what is not by giving data about bans
my only issue is toon swapping… in any of the tournaments free or paid… i believe a team should bring what ever class they signed the roster with. however the current system does point out and loudly, some professions just arent viable, or others are more viable for each map. with public streaming everywhere, it is shown that even the absolute best teams out there will swap in a different profession for certain maps.
this shows me that some professions have distinct advantages in certain maps, while others are less desirable for certain maps. this screams that there are imbalances, and takes away from personal playstyles.
some would argue the skill is in choosing the right class for the right job, similar to the team composition argument. this same person may argue that the person swapping toons should have a high amount of skill with multiple professions making them a very skilled player. in those cases i would tend to agree, but isnt a competitive game what we want. shouldnt we have to worry about all of the classes? instead of saying ok a ranger and a guardian walk onto a node, and the entire team focusses the guardian with ferocity and extreme prejudice and laugh at the ranger. or shouldnt it become a much harder choice like ok we take out the guardian but cc the ranger and get rid of that darn pet.
allowing certain professions to have advantages on some maps is in my opinion a bad thing. then allowing folks to bring said profession to the map, even mid tournament, for that specific map. a team should have to bring the tools they want at the beginning. however before making that change the advantages those classes bring to certain maps need to be removed. not only would it make a team focus more on playing the actual game, then playing the mechanics, it would still allow for team composition diversity.
choice is important in these games and with this community. removing profession specific advantages in certain maps, will improve the ability to bring a larger range of professions on a team. and removing the ability to change toons for a specific map will create a more balanced level of play. in my mind this leads to a better balanced game.
I think certain restrictions in tPvP could be good – things like no more than 2 of each class, aswell as possibly DOTA/LOL style picking (you pick a class, they pick a class etc).
As said, only for tPvP.
Zarturo: Elemental – Desolation.
I’d honestly rather just have the class balance issues sorted out so that every class is desirable and viable in tourney play instead of just 3-4.

If this game is to ever truly be competitive, then they need class restrictions in tournaments. They have it in LoL for a reason. Could you imagine teams playing as 5 of the same champion just because that champion is the best this patch?
IMO, it would be much better for everyone if they limited 1 of each class per team. It would make the game much more competitive and make it much harder to have 1 team build that dominates.
teams of 5 of the same champion would be really bad lol. Doesnt matter if that champion is the best AP carry or whatever that patch, still means you have 5 AP carries and get rolled into the ground…
This is why we don’t currently see 5 thief teams.
Guild wars is different from lol. In lol they have 4 set skills. In gw2 each profession has many skills and many combinations of them to fulfill multiple rolls. If you restrict professions in gw2, you are restricting a huge part of the game.
No, it would be a small restriction for the sake of balance and lineup variety, it would make more Professions viable in the long run. Furthermore it would make counter picking harder, playerskill gets more important than playing an anti lineup.
There’s no game I can think of that allows multi-class in a competitive scenario that’s actually serious.
There’s just too many gimmicks.
And it’s a decent way to help limit the OPness of certain classes if they ever are, limiting one per team.
