Based on what you determine MMR
read something about ELO rating, if your question is serious
The only way to not get kitten team mates is to que up as a party of 5
When I solo q I can not do it sober or with the mind-set that we will actually win
Lower your expectations of your fellow gw2 pvp player life will be easier
Your mistake is thinking that a decent MMR means you won’t get kitten teammates.
it’s usually the opposite, unfortunately.
Its funny how u talk about bad teammates while eating every single pin down or any other telegrahed attacks in a 1v1.
Even if you had a really high MMR as long as you solo queue you can and will be matched with people with much lower MMRs often. There are no leagues or cut-offs the matcher only waits so long before drastically increasing the MMR range of the people you could be matched with. There is not an unlimited supply of players and the matcher will and does take some noob/noobs to fill out a match if it has too.
My understanding of match making is that it try to balance the TOTAL mmr of your team vs the other. So even if you are the highest mmr player in the world at times when the pool of players is small you will still be paired with bunch of very low mmr players.

yea i let you land pin down because it was a shoutbow 1v1 on a node that I owned. I had absolutely no concern about that fight so I was looking at what was going on in the rest of the map.
You were the one 1v1’ing a stalemate matchup on an enemy node and calling me out because you landed pin down. You called it out in game, and then came and called it out on the forums.
I didn’t get below like 95% health either so I don’t understand what point you are trying to make.
Because there’s so much kitten talking about bad teammates that it kittens me off. If you were good you would be able to carry games regardless of the skill level of your teammates.
I’m just tiered of people who QQ 24/7 about bad teammates when they lose all their 1v1s and even fights.

its true you can carry to some degree. however there are a lot of games where your 4 teammates will lose every single even matchup in the game and even if you win every matchup youll still lose. furthermore theyre at the level of play that even if you take the perfect 1v2 matchup, you might not be able to carry it long enough to make a difference.

I was actually talking about MMR and pointing out to the OP that higher MMR doesn’t mean better teammates.
And I didn’t call anyone out so get over whatever your deal is XD
You are dependant on each and every one of your players… it isn’t like Starcraft where you could consistently 1v2 opponents depending on your skill level then bring that same skill level into another game
There’s too many factors in build wars 2 to determine how a particular match will go. There is 0 consistency. You have to be with the same team, running the same builds over and over. To be the best, your team has to change classes and/or build to better counterplay another team.
Cele ele, war, and engi don’t need to change anything because they’re already running optimal builds (celestials) for that class.
Rank: Top 250 since Season 2

You seem like an angry person.
Considering MMR ranges from 1 to 10 ~ 1 low, 10 is high:
Ten men enter a que at the same time “two parties will be formed from this”
The server attempts to create as balanced of match ups as possible
Within this group of ten players we have MMR ranges as follows:
- 10 an elite MMR
- 6 an above average seasoned player
- 5 an intermediate seasoned player
- 5 an intermediate seasoned player
- 4 a slightly bellow average seasoned player
- 4 a slightly bellow average seasoned player
- 3 some guy who has ran a bit of wvw but is new to conquest
- 2 a casual who comes in a few hours a week just to get dailies, refuses to try meta
- 2 a new player who forgot to put a pvp build on before joining his match
- 1 a new player who wasn’t sure what “hearts of the mists” was an decided to try it out
This is a typical roster of players queing at the same time
So what happens from this list? Well the high MMR is punished for solo queing
The high MMR must be placed with the lower MMRs to balance the match
The match up ends up looking like this:
Red Team: 10 / 5 / 2 /2 / 1
Blue Team: 6 / 5 / 4 / 4 / 3
This is great in theory, mathematically. In actual application for the dynamic of conquest it is a poor system indeed. Even if the elite player holds a node the entire match and farms every enemy that comes in to space, it still will not be enough point value in the end to make up for the slaughter on the other two nodes that the low MMRs are undergoing from the average MMRs.
This estimated guess of how the MMR matches are made is my best assumption after viewing how matches joined seem to work, the higher your MMR begins to rise. A-net has never really explained it to us but from what I see, this simply diagram seems to be pretty accurate.
When your MMR begins to get higher, you need to do 4-5 premade ques or you WILL get very low MMR players on your teams, in attempts to balance you against average MMRs.
your “typical match” seems way over dramatised, i have never seen a “10” and a “1” (in the same match).
i’m curious how would you rate yourself in that team, is it 10 i guess?

In any game, and in any sport, there are always going to be players of different skill levels no matter how good you try and match things. If you can’t handle the fact that there will always be better and worse players on your team than you at times then you should prob not be playing.
I am constantly amazed by people who continually only play a PC game to win and not to relax and have fun.
I honestly don’t understand Ragers. If I lose a game (be it because of me or my team) I just re-queue and have another. The fact that someone above needs to be drunk just because there are worse players on their team than them is a little sad in my opinion. Can you not handle a loss in a PC game?
@ Camron
They aren’t complaining about losing, they are complaining about matches that are not fun for anyone. It is not fun to roll a full 5-man premade of high MMR r80s and steam roll a full solo que team of rabbits. It’s boring and it feels dirty.
The match up system is kind of bogus, if you are highest rated MMR player on your team (which we can’t even tell at the moment) there is a good chance you will lose as they expect you to carry one or two other players which is not possible
One of the biggest challenges with matchmaking in this game is the fact that a weak player’s negative influence on a match is bigger than a strong player’s positive influence. This is further exacerbated by the rally mechanic. It is far more common for team fights to be single-handedly lost by a player than to be single-handedly won by a player.
In short, conquest is designed around team play, but MMR and matchmaking are designed around the individual.
The real issue is thinking the game has MMR at all. After a set time in queue MMR goes out the window and it pairs you with kittenall just to get you through the queue.
I’ve been matched against NA Top players in solo queue unranked before who curbstomped the entire newbie team I was on.
There is no MMR in this game. You can’t honestly expect and think this game actually has match making?
