If only it were that easy
Timer on treb would be cool, especially with mesmer blink – portal trick, which repair treb in less than 10 seconds. It’s ridiculous. And treb itself wins clock tower fights.
Treb is all about opportunity cost. It’s your choice, but you have to be able to deal with it.

I’m an expert trebber, as long as your not on the side of the clock tower by your base I can hit you. Also in a 1v3 situation with that 1 guy having treb support makes a huge difference.
A treb hit does 4-9k damage plus knockdown in a huge area, that’s a big deal, especially when some people run around with 14k hp and no toughness. That means 1 hit and a burst from the other guy your downed, or another hit with treb and your down.
And that’s why people will get the treb back up as soon as they can. It part of the game, its strategy, you need to find ways to counter it with your team.
Also engineers are really good at taking out trebs in a couple of seconds.

I agree that the respawn time makes destroying trebs a bit unrewarding and unsatisfying. But, I would first suggest it to be set at 30s and see how it goes, because any longer than that, and the treb would lose a lot of revelance in the map and make khylo less interesting.
This is the exact same argument as the “is thief burst op” argument. You can technically tell someone to dodge everything and anything, but is that realistic? Nope.
And no I don’t think thief burst is op, I just think the idea of getting bursted that quickly in any game is not fun for casuals.
4 plus treb beats 5 players any day, you can have a 3v1 in clocktower and the 1 will win with treb support if he’s a tank, all he has to do is stomp/ a little cc.
I agree it’s really barely worth it to kill the treb sometimes, the only thing you can do is keep the trebber tied up.
i want to saaay it depends on the team make up and their strategy. both yours and your opponents. now, note i am relatively new to PvP and been playing khylo.. i’ve been in situations where we didn’t man a treb and won. others where we had it and it worked out. also others where we could completely ignore enemy treb. or times when we were fighting uphill until we took out their treb, then it was ez mode after.
though last night, had a few 2v5 or 3v5’s and was no fun at all. XDDD

No it is absolutely not!
A thief has way more burst than you can ever hope to dodge even with vigor up.
(4 Heartseeker/2 CnD base + Steal + stealth utility to reopen with BS + all dem traits that allow faster initiative regen / higher initiative pool – there is no way you are going to avoid all of that unless you kite like a baws to begin with! (i.e. you cant hope to dodge it all without doing anything else to avoid) )
Treb doesnt even fire fast enough to kill people without vigor on side nodes as long as they can dodge.
EDIT: Also you can always see treb fire coming from a mile away and theres even a very early audio cue (which also doesnt always work so thats a huge downside) to avoid it.
With thieves you dont even see them coming.. consider you`re in a team fight and the thief just CnD+Steal+Bs u. There is no cues for steal, it has a 900 range and is instant. And with basi venom youre stunned after that as well.
Plus the thief can approach in stealth so you dont even have a chance to react to begin with.

I think some ppl who answered to this topic don’t know what timed stuns and immobilizes are.

just sayin`
and lol at those that say “watch the sky and dodge treb hits”, that works only if you have noone to fight, but how the kitten can u watch the sky and fight for the node ? lol
If you want to even think to fight at clocktower you first have to waste some time taking their treb out.

Guardian root is especially evil in that regard.

It takes practice.
Which is a solution but also makes it innately anti-casual and kinda frustrating if you do actually screw it up and aren’t running a hardcore bunker or ele.
A nifty tourny mechanic, but for pug deals… ehh.
Never been much of a fan of the map myself.
Tipp: If you hear the automated guy crying “Trebuchet!” blabla… you can count on “3” (on clocktower) or “4” (on side nodes) and then dodge. If you practice this enough, it’s not needed to watch the sky. Therefore the guard should count for the whole team.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe this topic isn’t about how hard treb hits, or how strong it is. It’s about how rewarding it is to destroy a treb.
Everyone defending the treb makes it sound like everyone has infinite dodges.
You didn’t hear about that infinite dodge. They patched it in for PvEs to fight mobs better.
I could tell any one of you that it’s possible to dodge a bullet in real life but is that realistic? Nope.
Which would you rather dodge, a burning speed, a heart seeker, churning earth or a treb?
Take your pick.
But yes, destroying a treb should be more significant. More than often you need atleast 2 people to come fight the person using the trebuchet (depends on the class). And it’s usually a waste of time as they just repair it a second after.

If you want to talk about the strategical/tactical importance of trebs, then adding a timer would make it much more important to actually defend the treb. Teams may actually make it a priority to not leave their trebber alone.
The strategy right now is, 1 person at treb. When its destroyed, repair it. Rinse and repeat.
