Been stuck in a tier for about 3 weeks now
I can see a couple of scenarios (with no intent at insulting you) :
a) You got carried (by build, friends, etc) to said level and it is, thus, too strong, pairing you with other people and creating unbalanced teams;
b) You got your skill cap and are stuck in that tier until you get better
c) You log at wrong time where the player pool is unbalanced or there’s premade farming Squeue
d) Your win loss ratio is too strong and MMr decides to gently “resolve” the issue
e) System decided to stop loving you and will make you lose on purpose until the end of time
I vote for e…
Or even a, since you seem to view scoreboard as relevant (and I’ll kill whatever debate could have existed by mentionning said fact):
- Scoreboard is based on offensive rather than defensive > reward points for capping and killing
- scoreboard do not take into account reviving allies
- Scoreboard do not take into account bunking a point even if you survive the whole game alone against the whole team
- Scoreboard do take into account whatever kill (even off point) you can make
- Scoreboard do take into account beast killing
- Scoreboard do take into account double point capping
etc. etc. etc
So having the lowest score doesn’t necessarily mean you are the worthless player on game, just like having the highest score doesn’t mean you’re the top player in game.
My own tips:
1) Get a premade composed of two ele, one mesmer and two DH (or other offensive class)
2) Farm Stronghold
3) Abuse the system
4) Cry in a corner
5) Stop playing
Can be done in whichever order you want.
You can also insert: invent yourself a ruby or higher friend (well skilled at least) who’ll buy another HoT account (preferably) and have his freshly new MMr, team with him, laugh maniacally
If you could have four other players like these, it would be best, but that’s not mandatory.

Curious what tier youre stuck in?
I mean if its emerald…
But if its ruby that’s pretty average.
I don’t know if getting stuck in saphire is average but most people by population are still around there.
Also what are you playing? If you’re playing a necro for instance you generally need a team that will support you and not abandon you. Thief, necro, warrior, can be a bit harder to soloq with.

hehe
thanks, unfortunately not a single friend of mine plays this game, I have tried converting them (mostly from WoW) ever since I quit that one about 2 years ago but none of them ended up sticking to it for more than a few weeks (or even less).
Like I said I would love to have “reached” a skillcap that would mean that I get at least some decent games, but there is on decent game in about 10 for me (and no, it is usually not the one I actually end up winning) most games are just easy win (rare) or near catastrophic defeat (most of the time) where during the entire game you never have the upper hand or any chance for that matter.
Oh and I dislike stronghold so I only play conquest
Also I find the MM system expects you to play at your absolute best. So if I try to offclass, even if I’m not horrible, it often means defeat.
Getting completely lopsided scored could still be an indication it’s you. If you are constantly blowing it, that would essentially make it a 4v5. I’m not saying that’s the case, but it could be.
My ranked win percentage is 68.18%, however my win percentage in general on mesmer (which I don’t know how to play) is like 13% or something. So you can see how dramatically a single player can affect a match.
The problem starts there a lot of players think if they have top score then they are the best and most useful on the team that did everything to win the game when its actually possible to be one of the worst.
i just call them scoreboard heroes ( they care about how to top scoreboard instead of "how to win the game? what to do to change the score? ) that probably stuck in sapphire or ruby forever.
Remember: point hunting doesn’t win game.

Im not really trying to get to diamond, however it goes im fine with. I think i could get there if i spent time on it since ive barely played any matches since i got to ruby and already halfway to diamond. BUT i refuse to put so much time on grind when i soloq + matchmaking is a bit weird in ruby. Sometimes i feel like OP describes. When matchmaking purposedly give me 2x thiefs and a warrior in the same party i feel screwed over (sadly). That would be fine, if the other team got 2x thiefs and a warrior too, yet, they get 2x revs and 2x eles.
So the past days i tried out the matchmaking a bit again. I went on a lose streak and i found out the reason to why, its because i qued up in the afternoon and theres all various of players queing at that time. Im not saying im the greatest player, i have alot to learn still (rotations is my weakness mainly but ive gotten alot better at it recently). But despite that when i que up at lets say from 7 pm to 9 pm i get win streaks which follows by a loss or two. Funny enough my winrate goes between 50-52%. It feels like, everytime the game knows ive won too much it puts me on teams to lose. How i notice this is that the difference in playerskill is so huge sometimes you cant other than easily see it. When i duoq with a friend, we go on win streaks always with very few losses…so, makes me wonder if soloq even works when the game puts us in weird matchups to keep us at 50% winrate. Duoq seems to work better tho.
Then we have my friend who recently hit rank 80 in pvp meanwhile he was at end of ruby, and hes now diamond. He has had alot easier than most to get there since hes had about 56+% winrate since his mmr hadnt settled. People would say that rank doesnt matter, but he is terrible at pvp, i played with him a few times. I also have another guildie which winrate is 65% and he recently hit rank 80 too. He just played dragonhunter and killed all nabs ezpez and hes ruby now. Oh and this dude had about 40% winrate before he played dragonhunter. Feels a bit unfair but what can you do when the game is created the way it is. (This btw is the reason i think we get matched with nabs sometimes. Since leagues is 50% of the matchmaking now).

I have similar problem, but not with tiers, but classes. When I play Rev or Guardian I think my win ratio is 10%. I am not the best pvp player in the world, but I am very very far from being this bad. I clearly see my team set for those 2 classes is weaker always.
What tier are you in?
