Taking a break from GW2 to play various
Nintendo games..
Since stronghold is coming back, I’m wondering what the ideal type of build for this game format is.
Personally I feel like bunker builds are a bit less viable since there aren’t any nodes to sit in, unless they off serious support capability.
I’m thinking that mobility, 1v1/skirmishing power (less big teamights), and support and control effects regarding NPCs will be effective.
What builds will you guys run in stronghold, and what role do you expect to play? Will it be any different than the ones you’d normally use in conquest? Will your build be optimized for offense, defense, or supply, or be versatile enough to do each equally as well?
I rly enjoyed the last SH beta and it felt like because there was so many doodads different terrain to play with, the meta was much more balanced.
the ideal build will be…. CONDI TRAPPER RANGER!

I can see that being powerful on defense, since it does great in skirmishes, traps will NPCs that blindly walk into them, and it has good defenses from evades.
I also see condi necro/reaper being good for that role as well since the NPCs will feed it life force and it has lots of chill and soft CC to slow things down, as well as good 1v1 potential when it actually has enough life force.
I see Warriors being the more OP professions in this game mode considering their level of viability.
-They kill NPC’s the quickest while maintaining respectable mobility
-They can have full Stability uptime during Spirit channeling
The only other classes who can push them off are Necro’s boon conversion and maybe Mesmer’s boon stripping + wave push. Everyone else will be frustrated because they’ll have no means to interrupt him unless it’s 2+ CC classes.
Bunker builds will be less viable considering two Cele D/D Ele can support the Lord (and arguably minions) more efficiently while also being viable in other areas like supply running, minion killing and overall pressure through mobility + damages.
Trap Rangers can of course lay waste to minions but Power Rangers will perform worse than many other professions in that area. Not to mention they offer little support for their npcs. We just have to see what the Druid can bring to the table.

I was hoping that we’d get a meta in the forseeable future where double ele isn’t run by nearly every team (even though I play ele), oh well
Engineer is pretty dope. Can’t say what build is most useful, but Elixir X has the secure champ channel with pulsing stability and can negate other transformations with the Toss use.
I plan on running FT/TK condi to start, though Soldier rifle will probably get the bulk of play over the weekend. Really just a matter of seeing how the new specializations change things.
