Best Bunker Class?
As a decap engi, I have the most problems removing guardians with ridiculous stability uptimes – especially with consecrated ground. I can almost always decap from a warrior even with signet or rage and lyssa runes and balanced stance – especially if I’m running mines with boon stripping.

How very interesting. I have very little experience with spirit ranger either. Might have to give it a try.
But it seems Guardian might be the better of choices, regardless.
I think it depends a bit on where you’re aiming to bunker. If you’re bunkering mid and assist in team fights a lot, then it’s hard to beat a good Guardian since they have so many tools to cleanse conditions, grant protection, and rez downed allies.
However, if you’re focusing on bunkering a node by yourself, then a bunker engi can be a pretty solid choice since they have so many knockbacks to decap or undo decaps.
Personally, I prefer Guard.
What about helseth’s thief bunk build. No kidding but I think right now it might be almost as good as bunk guard

Never heard of it, but a thief build will never be as good as a guard for a number of reasons:
- You can’t contest in a point in stealth
– No knockbacks
– Almost no condition cleansing (unless you take the SA trait that stealths you, which prevents point contention)
– The only ally rez tools available involve stealth, which leave points uncontested and are vulnerable to cleave
You can build a character to have a ton of sustain, but that doesn’t make it a good bunker. A good bunker can knock back enemies to win the battle of contesting a points (or at least keeping enemies out of points with snares/immobilize/warden lines) and can also support their teammates in fights so that they can sustain damage/get back up when downed.

As a decap warrior, I found a well played and spec’d Guardian is the biggest pain to deal with. The numerous blocks, stability and also heals they have access to make it quite hard to remove them off a point.
Honestly the ones I’d rank really good bunkers are Guardian and Engineer. Don’t have too much trouble removing MM necros or Rangers defending a point. Warriors built for it fair better than those two imo. The rest are kinda eh…

Yea, stability is big for bunkers, but I think if you’re strong enough on one aspect of bunker, you can make up for what you lack on another (i.e. how engi knockback can offset lack of stab).
With thief, I don’t think there is enough of any advantage to really offset the lack of stability, knockback, etc.

Guard for the amount of support they bring. If it wasn’t for that, they wouldn’t be top dog when it comes to bunkering.

“Bunker” is pretty much why sPvP is a skilless joke of a game. Bring back GvG and let’s get a real game.

or just go to WvW and GvG all you want. The nice thing is that there is more strategy there since there are a lot more combinations of armor, trinkets, runes, food, etc.
of course, if you haven’t geared a character outside of PvP, this doesn’t apply to you.

I think that shout warrior approaches the level of team support that a Guardian offers (no group stab, except after you use your warbanner), but I can clear 6 conditions from my teammates and burst heal them for 10k if they’re in shout range, with a 20 CD on two of my 2.5k heals. If I notice no one is targeting me anymore in consecutive games, I can drop shrug it off, and go double mace/warhorn for vigor, endurance on swap, team swiftness, block, and 2 conditions converted to boons.

Guardian is best to stay alive but i still prefer engineer because they can assist in the fight more. If you can’t get rid of the enemy you’re gonna lose

He was streaming it on his hitbox. It is double shortbow, perma-evade build. Could stalemate a point 2v1, 3v1 no problem

GvG in WvW isn’t the GvG he’s talking about. Having two groups of people fight each other in some big open field with only the goal of killing each other is nothing like the GvG in GW1 where there were multiple objectives that often involved splitting your group up to cover several areas.

Is thief bunker the bow/bow 0/0/0/30/30 evade spam garbage that suddenly popped up yesterday? I guess it could contest mid on foefire forever but it has trouble staying on small points and is even more selfish than warrior bunker lol.
Guardian = best support with stability/heal/cleanse
Engi = best pressure with CC/bomb spam
Warrior = survives longest alone (probably)
Ranger has some added utility and necro can just easily kill some standard roamers

^This. Guard shines best at being support over just straight bunkering. The support that they bring, though, is invaluable.

Guardians (#1) and Engineers (#2) are by far the best bunkers.
Guardians shine with their survivability and amazing group support – those heals, condition cleanses, might stacks, blocks, tons of boons and knockbacks change the outcome of any group fight.
Engineers also shine with great survivability, but they have less support resources. But unlike the Guardian, there are tons of tools for stunning, knocking back etc, decapping points with ease, which is very important. On top of that, the Engineer does more damage, and all those knockbacks and stuns take out alot of power, especially in group encounters.

The jokes….even listen to the audio of the video. I was hoping it would make some people’s day.
Also, the perma-evade thief wasn’t playing it quite right, and it didn’t appear to have 30 acrobatics as dodges take the full 50 endurace, as opposed to 35.
No he has 30 acro.
