Q:

So the main variations I have seen are 3 cele 2 zerk or 2 cele 3 zerk.
Cele Builds : D/D ele, rifle engi, and shoutbow war
Zerk builds : hammer Medi guard, thief either d/p panicstrike or s/d, shatter mes, and power necro

Which combination of these do u think is best and why?

A:

The must-haves:
-Thief
- Shoutbow warrior
- Cele Engie (to control side-points and dominate 1v1’s)

These should be on every team b/c they are honestly over-powered for their roles (shoutbow is best tanky support +dps by far due to banner), thief is best roamer (this is true in every meta, forever), engie is amazing in 1v1’s (very few hardcounters that can be run b/c shoutbows just negate any condi builds) and give amazing cc to set up kills in teamfights.

With the last 2 you can take a combination of:
- Shatter mesmer
- Another shoutbow
- Cele d/d
- Medi guard

You can also take the following builds, but they have a few more weaknesses:
- Staff ele (support only, doesn’t do any damage really)
- Hambow (pretty good, but not as good as cele engie)
- Power necro (great if you can protect him and its game-over once you start the snowball)
- Bunker guard – not great in high-level b/c it is just worse than shoutbow (more cleanse, more might, banner res, better mobility)

The choice of the last 2 will really depend on your team comp and strategy.

Staff-Ele >>> D/D-Ele, cuz Staff is at least good in teamfights, D/D-Ele has nothing to offer that a cele-rifle and/or shoutbow can’t do as good or better.

On Niflhel and Temple, I think Mesmer is insanely good, on the other maps, a Mesmer isn’t really necessary.

Panic-Strike Thief is basically always a must-have, because of stealth-openers and stealth-movements on the map and because it’s just a very strong and bursty zerker-build with insane unblockable immob, high mobility etc.

So basically I’d go for:

- Shoutbow
- Cele-Rifle
- Staff-Ele (or another Shoutbow/Cele-Rifle, just sth. with sustain and good teamfight)
- Panic-Strike
- Mesmer (on Nilfhel or Temple), on other Maps, probably a Medi-Guard.

D/D-Ele >>> Staff. You can might stack significantly better and makes a massive difference when half your team is running around with 20+ stacks of might. Not to mention easier time blasting smoke and chaos fields. In contrast, Staff is a very, very powerful bunker. Throwing water auto at your feet, combined with regen can easily recover ~1700+ health a second, makes a warrior bunker go kitten SON. That’s without the aid of water fields.

I personally favor:
2 Medi-guards
D/D ele
shatter mesmer
zerker GS warrior

The roaming power with this is brutal.

You can say GG to every teamfight. Medi-guards can blow up anything squishy that can threaten the mesmer, while the zerk warrior and shatter mesmer can just melt anything tanky. Without any high damage, the bunkers are dead meat, with CC provided by the ele, mesmer and mediguards, zerk GS can freely destroy bunkers in seconds. D/D ele provide the buffs and sustain as well as condi-pressure. The name of the game is hit hard and move on, enemies in downed state is better than dead enemies.

I prefer quick, powerful roaming, making sure every fight will have uneven numbers. Keeping the enemy team unable to recover and rotate well. Breaking a rotation is infinitely better than holding home point at the start of the match.

D/D ele has far more AoE condition cleanse than an engi.
D/D ele has more pressure and CCs than shoutbow.

This is simply not true.

D/D ele has far more AoE condition cleanse than an engi.
D/D ele has more pressure and CCs than shoutbow.

Actually, staff ele has more AoE condition cleanse.
And yes, it does have a lot of pressure and CC to shoutbow.

Well, these are non-issues though, since Shoutbow offers enough AoE-Condition-Cleanse in teamfights and since no1 seems to punish Engis in 1v1 Situations for a lack of condition-cleanse (because of the fear that condis are usless in teamfights or after good rotations because of Shoutbow), both Engi and Shoutbow are the better choice than D/D-Ele. Might as well count Medi-Guard too.

In Teamfights, I don’t like D/D-Ele at all. Yes, it has decent support and better Mightstacking than basically any other build, but the class is Melee-only, it has many channeled spells that just get interrupted very easily and a very high amount of DMG comes from easily cleansed burning. Currently, I actually prefer to run an S/D-Cele build (2/0/0/6/6), because it offers even better mightstacking and has more range and more bursty physical damage.
