Best build to carry noobs?
depends on your skill level
not so gut: something that strongly impacts teamfights and is hard to kill, i’d say hamwarrior.
good: something that strongly punish the enenemy team for zerging and can easily win most 1v1 fights, i’d say a thief.
wunderbar: something that can do everything at the same time, a tanky class that does ok damage and also has high mobility. Something like a condition warrior, an engineer or a ranger.
Note that in the last case in order to carry you need to effectively cover both roles. You must be able to hold or run away against 2+ people, contest undefended points when you get the chance, stand on the capture poing without dieing during team fights.
Any roamer that can win a lot of 1v1s and be very effective in teamfights. A really good engi can seriously kitten another team up.
Im used to carry ultra hard with my spirit ranger but i rly got tired of playing it..
Condi necro

Rabid engineer. The elite is so good and can sway a team fight instantly. Also you can fly around the map with perma swiftness and rocketboots. You also have plenty of vigor, blinds, and regen. Once you get a hold of the class it is very hard for someone to outright beat you in a 1v1 or even some 1v2’s depending on skill/classes of the other players.
Tiny Icono – Engineer / The Icono – Elementalist
SoS – Empyrean Knights [EK] YB – The Coasters [TC]
spirit ranger.
hambow war.
bunker engi.
This in high end solo q, roamers tend to be less useful at high rating.
bunker engi.
Can anyone tell me what’s the current go-to build for this for “carrying” a team? Thanks.
Prefix: I’m writing this with the idea of progression in mind -meaning you aren’t already in the top 300 on the solo queue ladder, rather you are working up from the bottom. If you ARE at the top of the ladder, this advice probably won’t help you a whole lot.
The trick to carrying games is being able to 1v1/1v2 everyone else on the other team. I base my picks off of the enemy comp. Here’s how I decide what to play each game:
Engi > Thief, Necro, Ranger
Mesmer > Warrior, Thief, Ele (almost always play this on khylo -just for treb control)
Thief > Necro, Ele, Warrior, bad Guardians (evaluate pre-game)
Necro > Guardian, Mesmer, Ranger
Ranger = not great imo, cas you take a long time to kill ppl and have low mobility (which makes carrying a sluggish team a total pain in the kitten ). However, you could run some trap build and totally catch ppl off guard -just get far then trap it up, one person will come and proc your 1st traps, then u throw out your second set (so 6 traps). You can burst ppl down pretty quickly with this and it will work atleast one time against each of the enemy roamers (once they realize you’re trap you’ll have to get a bit sneaky). It’s pretty kitten funny to play, but I’ll probably get flamed for even suggesting it haha.
Guardian = Be a bro and play if your team has none
Ele:
I don’t usually play ele in solo queue unless i’m just trying to have fun because the only time I think it would directly counter a team comp is if they had more than 2 condi necros, and with my luck they would all be running some stupid mm power build . If you can poke before game and see that they have 2-4 condi necros or bunker engis, then take diamond skin and go for 1v1s @ far the entire game. Ele does good in lower mmr, but it’s really hard to carry with it.
Of course this isn’t going to hold true for 100% of all games you play; you’re going to run into really good players that will be able to win against these counters, and you’re also going to run into wacky builds that get around them as well, like condi warrior (which destroys thief and mesmer) or MM necro (which isn’t exactly countered by engineer’s automated response trait). It’s really all about how comfortable you are 1v1ing against each build of each class. If you feel really comfortable 1v1ing anything matchmaking throws at you on Ele, then you should definitely play Ele!

any bunker build with any viable class since most newbie tend to run roamer build or dps.
Black Gate
Ruthless Legend
All classes that rely on AI to do the players job are good for noobs.
A question: starting by going far and then supporting mid might be a good carrying strategy?
And after that, should I bounce between mid/far, should I roam for side points or should I keep a point when I get it?
And when I am at Khylo, and see the enemy is using treb a lot, should I go intensively for treb and be always ready to attack it again when trebber comes to repair?
because he doesn’t know it himself
Bunker that can hold mid, so guard probably in most maps.

Eww, rocket boots.
Tuck and Roll: Warrior – What Everyone Loves: Guardian -Hardkore Junglist: Ranger -
Kitty Gearwrench: Engineer – Dwomm: Elementalist – Which Kitten Is It: Mesmer
If you want to carry team, take guardian. They’re always welcome

Bunker Guardian go mid fight 1v3 (you being 1 enemy being 3) and hold for the entire match. Win all the games like I do, and if you lose at the very least you can say “You did your best” and move on. I win 80% of my games with bunker guardian.

I will once I stop being able to fairly easily kill guardians holding points with my mesmer – and when guardians start being able to kill me when I hold points. Maybe they just aren’t that good at my level, I dunno, but I can’t remember the last one that soundly thrashed me and that doesn’t say ‘team carrier’ to me.
its not hard to kill guardians with mesmer – guardian defensive is BOONS and mesmer eat them in no time
Maybe try : Greatsword Staff Shout Guardian, a semi-bunker with surprising mobility and good sustained DPS.

- All shouts remove 1 condition and convert 1 condition, giving your team a lot of anti-condition support.
- Lots of retaliation to counter AOE spam.
- Multiple sources of stability (1 of which is AOE).
- 2 sources of AOE Swiftness, so your team can be more mobile.

I’ve found that a bunker guard is extremely easy to play and can carry a group more than most other builds. The hardest thing is just being able to land a banish on a smart target.
