Best profession/way to get good at PvP?
Warrior isn’t simple unless it’s shoutbow really.
Go play Guardian or Ranger, those are probably the easiest classes to start with.

Choose any class you feel like playing.
Read that class forums.
Go to Hotm.
Train on golems.
Train with class npcs.
Join Unranked matches to fight against other players.
When you’ll catch the thing, and learn maps, join ranked and keep getting better.
Try everything and find what you like.
Honestly, learning one of the hardest classes first would probably be better for you. It’s easier to work backwards, like going from Ele to Ranger then it is going from Ranger to Ele. However, if you don’t even like playing the class in the first place then who cares?
Warrior is easier than Guardian. I have substantial hours on those classes. Guardians have to use their skills intelligently as do Warriors, but Warriors are less prone to die instantly in smaller fights for botching a skill.
1. Try everything and find what you like.
2. Duel people all day to get mechanical understanding of (all) the classes.
3. Introduce that to conquest by finding a nice vet to show you the ropes. Conquest is so much more than just killing a guy on point or holding close; you will learn it much faster with somebody picking you up on rotations.
4.make friends with some people that play regularly – and play with them.

This is true
Beside Warrior has been allways on meta for a longtime (Hambow before and now Shoutbow) with effective and not hard to learn builds. Guardian meta was Bunker and even that is not optimal anymore. There are teams picking Guardian for damage and most Guardians you will get are damage dealers (Meditation Guardians) with some support.
Classes that dominate the current meta? Cele D/D Ele and Cele Engi. Then you have Shoutbow. Now to be good in PvP you don’t need to play these if you don’t enjoy them but these are the must have for most teams has it is nowadays and more top ier teams will have 1 ele and 1 engi, the warrior is more optional but also really wanted.
“The Skill” comes from many sources.
Many assume that because Engineer, for example, has so many skills and buttons to operate on (or Ele for similar reasons) it’s so much more skillful than Warrior or Ranger.
When some builds are indeed pretty easy to understand and are fairly tanky like shoutbow, you have to keep in mind that not only amount of skills matter.
It’s also the execution.
Warrior for the most part has fairly obvious animation tells, so his skill will come from setting them up and executing with success, overcoming the clear tell disadvantage by counting the dodges, for example.
Necromancer has more HP but it’s gameplay is so much pro-active. You have to think foward to position yourself right or maybe trick your foe. It doesn’t have that many options, as an Engineer for example, but in his case, a single skill execution means so much less, mostly. Necro may withstand more condi damage than a Thief but if his proactive defense fails and he gets ganged up it’s just “oh snap, I will have to think more about that the next time” and he dies, but for example a Thief or a Mesmer may just be reactive here and get away with evade or distortion.
Ranger. People really bash them. But often miss so many “skillful” things, like managing the pets, countering the burst or so. Immobilizing a foe with Muddy Terrain to follow up with Hilt Bash&SotH and score big burst with Owl’s F2 and Maul is no less skillful than perfect execution of Shatter combo.
OP, for tl;dr. The meaning of “skillful”, “best”, “most pro elo hardcore” is so fluid, biased and ridiculous that it’s not worth paying attention to. “Skillful” comes in different forms, so just try all professions and decide what you like the best.

Best profession/way to get good at PvP?
best way: practice, play sPvP
profession: your choice…
1. Pick a class of your interest.
2. Look up cookie cutter builds. Find the one that more or less piques your interest.
3. Practice with said build
4.????
5. Profit.
I don’t think it gets any easier than that.
probably ranger. you’ll get owned by most other profs and you’ll find it necessary to study them diligently, learn their nukes, cd’s etc. and that’s what’ll make you good.

Best way to get good in PvP?
Play all professions. Ignore the ones that says, pick a class of interest. Go test all the professions. PvP is about knowing what your enemies will do. Then you dodge and make all their attacks worthless. It is about knowing when to strike, how to force that to happen. Meaning, as a D/P thief, you want to stealth all day so that the enemy panic and uses all skills on cooldown. Then thats when you strike. The only way you know what skills are on cooldown is that you play that profession yourself.
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
1 nice thing about gw2 pvp is all the classes are viable, however some are more desired. every team comp , pretty much is going to run elements and engys.
Necros are good in a way bc they counter engies, who are so common in the meta.
play turret engie LOL afk and you can still be usefull to the team
I suggest spending 70-80 percent of the time studying and practising the mechanics of one class first. Must be the class you really like. Other things don’t matter.
Then spend the rest on other classes, especially those you have trouble fighting against.
Warrior isn’t simple unless it’s shoutbow really.

i woudln’t call shoutbow easy, it’s just as easy as hambow or any other build to pick up.
but it definitely has one of the highest skill cap warrior has ever gotten.
the counter plays and easy instant damage it can pull out is just crazy, it reminds me of other classes.
