Lol didnt calculate energy usage, didn’t consider damage type, didnt consider stealth (yes making yourself untargetable is defending).

Unlike the dps chart you posted, these numbers are meaningless.

You dont need to do math to show the level of damage avoidance is ridiculous.

100% damage avoiding with skills ( also high mobility damage avoiding ) makes the game not fun to play. Even if you give necros also more damage avoiding skills its balance the game as necro survivability don’t scale the more peoples appear, but not fixing the issue of all the time have to fight against damage avoiding builds.

Remove that too much 100% damage avoidance. Fix them to give 10% 15% 33% or 50% damage reduction for some sec etc instead. Just stop that lame no skill 100% damage avoiding spam its good if you want to chase away old players and especially new players fast. It’s a lame lazy mechanic that don’t attract players/ new players and not fun to fight against.

Can you calculate values for current meta builds?

Some classes have recharge skills like Renewed Focus and Signet of Illusions.

You can’t add block uptime for weapon set combinations that are impossible to equip. For example Scrapper Hammer and Shield (Off-Hand), Tempest/Ele Staff and Focus.

This looks like a spreadsheet project.

Although we could (not our work) make a much more accurate calculation of this, we would have to review many other aspects, such as weapon configurations, possible specializations configurations, healing, cleaning ability, energy use, hardness, vitality, damage , Passive … etc etc etc …

I am sorry to say that this does not help at all and the approach is not correct.

I heard military outfits around the world have been buying and equipping their soldiers with body armor made out of GW2 retail boxes.

The elite forces use the HoT xpac.

I agree. Actually across the board nerfing of damage reduction things is something they could easily do and it would not effect the pve population at all as these things are only abused in pvp. It would need to be significant though and i cant see them doing this in a timely fashion if ever.

How does Rev for example use sword, staff and hammer in one build to get all the evades? How does ranger get sword, dagger, gsword and staff in one build? This list is not only bullkitten in reality but also in theory. Useless thread

He actually only added up the numbers of the best available weapon combination and just listed the other weapons. Numbers might still be off because of other factors such as weapon swap, blocks ending prematurely (e.g. ranger gs) or simple miscalculation.
For instance ranger s/d should be below 15sec: 6*1.5 (dagger4) + 4*0.75 (sword 3) + 6*0.5 (sword2) = 15 <- This is without taking the casting time of the skills itself into account so the actual number is below that. Adding weapon swap (as his calculations are for multiple sets) further decreases the evade up time.
Cant be bothered to check other weapon sets though.

It’s also worth noting that nobody uses dodges and blocks on cooldown. You’d be a fool to do so.

Exactly this! Power-creep a bunch of hard mitigation, then power-creep damage so things can actually get killed, then power-creep soft mitigation and healing so that specs relying on that can survive…

PvP is honestly just bad in this game. Stick to PvE, where they have been doing a better job actually designing interesting (and challenging) encounters.

I’m not seeing the point here really. I see you’ve put together the maximum time a profession can avoid damage , but only by taking abilities and weapons that would never be used together in a competent build. Not really understanding what you are trying to accomplish here.

Some of these builds are very competent builds actually
For example these builds were actually used in Pro league by some the Pro league players.
:
Many Herald players used Sword/Sword instead of the Sword/Shield.
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vlAQNAW8sn3guNSuQ7JRboVlsP0rS4IaWJ4EdskEAAwGA
Herald with Staff + Sword/Sword + Dragon Stance + Assassin Stance
:
And this one was used by few Thief players
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vZAQFA2m0MBFmiFOhEAAYGA
Daredevil with Staff + Bandit’s Defense + Signet of Agility + Withdraw
:
And this build was used alot in Pro league and this build was used by the Pro league champions
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vJAQNApehGtkilhgEAA4FA
Berserker with Mace/Shield + Greatsword + Shattering Blow + Endure Pain
I forgot the name of the team but the Pro league champions used this build
:
If you actually watch Pro league.
Even the pro level players like to use these builds with so many evades.
Evade-Evade-Evade builds are not noon thing at all.
Evade-Evade-Evade builds are used by even the pro level players.

But again, still not true for all the classes you listed. If you were listing damage avoidance uptime of meta builds specifically I could see the point in that, but doing it in this way just doesn’t really make sense. It doesn’t accomplish anything. Also, you have things like Ranger’s Signet of Stone listed, yet that still leaves the Ranger completely open to condi damage and thus shouldn’t really be included.

The weapon skill numbers are not realistic, because weapon swap cooldown can prevent you from using your skills on cd. And there are overall more things to factor in when talking about active defense (blocks and evades are not always reliable – ranger GS is a good example for unreliable defenses – blinds, stealth, ports, reflects and interrups can be used as additional defense and so on …)

Aside from this, it is not advisable, to spam defensive skills whenever they are ready.
