Hi,

so… the season is well on its way… and still there are total blowout matches happening.

Especially to us that dont have time to play during primetime.

Ive noticed that a lot of those blowouts involve premades. Not full premades mind you, its those duo and trios that cause them – at least for me.

Now, Id suggest three solutions for this.

1. MMR brackets – max difference:
Re-introduce mmr brackets, basically matching teams according to their mmrs. BUT make the difference big enough to still cause lopsided matches, but to prevent blowouts. This will work during primetime very well, but it will increase queuetime a lot during nighttime when there is a small playerpool.

2. Increase pip range upwards
Now another solution would be to just increase pip range upwards to search from for premades. Maybe even something like increasing piprange upwards according to premade’s rostersize.

3. Move pip range
This is more or less the same idea as increasing the pip range, but instead only increasing it upwards, a premade is treated as if they had more pips.
So if you queue as a premade, your piprange fixpoint isnt the one of highest in party, but rather lets say +5.

What do you guys think about this? Would something like this help soloqueuers without hurting teams too much? I mean, undoubtedly premades DO have an advantage over 5 people chosen solely based on their mmr.

Pip range apparently has been already increased at least at 35 pips overall. A player at 0 pips in diamond reported a game in which he had two legendary players in the match.

We should all deal with the fact that there’re way less players actively playing now than in the previous season, Anet won’t give a kitten until S3 (even thou this result is completely their fault).

I doubt it was increased. Didn’t they always say it would eventually expand to find players? There aren’t a lot of legendaries yet.

And honestly, at diamond and up, who cares how many pips apart everyone is? I’d even go as far as t4 ruby. It’s all the same.

Yeah, but if so, it has been increased for all, which helps premades even more and hurts soloqueuers doubly so.

If that’s “undoubtedly” mind to explain to me way the win rate of five solo players is above 50% against five-person premade?

Only 1% of all Ranked matches played in season one were a full five-person premade group vs. a group of five solo players, and even then, the win rate for those five solo player teams in those cases was consistently at or above 50% throughout the entire season.

Keep in mind that most of it is ofc anedoctal evidence.

But we had, before the last patch, people in diamond complaining about 30+ mins queue, someone has even reached the 1h mark, even during prime time, and we never heard of matches with people very distant in pips range.

Now we’ve already had reports about the one I mentioned, and another one (in the same thread) of an sapphire player put in a match with everyone else being emerald (the emerald player reporting it had just 1 pip).

We all were under the assumption that the range was of 15 pips (+/-7), and that’s why some players experienced such long queue times in div 5 during the first 2 weeks of the season.

Now, a patch hits, and people get matched with other players in a range of 35 pips, hence my conclusion of an expanded pips range to shorten queue times.

One of the reasons for the blowouts seems to be that “pro” players are alting and going back through the divisions. This is in an effort to get more matches.

So, they stomp there way through the divisions, again. What they are forgetting is that it’s kittening off a lot of players. I wonder if there will be enough left to support a season 3?

Because last season, the mmr of the premade was low and the mmr of the five solos was high. And still they had up to 50% winchance.

I won pretty much every match I went against full premade with five soloqueues, and the difference in mmr showed.

But what you now get is a premade of maybe two or three with low mmr, matched with other low mmr’s against a full team, which could be any mmr.

The advantage is of course coordination and team composition. Every premade has this advantage. Some dont use it, but imo thats on themselves. Most do use it.

It is more than 7. Had 3 matches in sapphire T4 0 pips vs 5 ruby’s. The season is over for all but the best players now..
