Bring back Dishonorable!
It’s hot join, no.
If you can’t resist to leave when losing…then don’t join sPvP..limit yourself to WvWvW and PvE not a game mode where teamplay is necessary

I never said I can’t resist to leave while losing. They made it hot join with auto balancing for a reason, so players can come and go. It’s casual PvP, people shouldn’t be punished because some tryhards get mad when they lose.
Hot join wouldn’t be hot join if people couldn’t leave and join on the fly. It’s meant to be super casual. Not everyone leaves on a rage quit. Some people have to get up to get the door, respond to their kids, yell at the dog for messing the carpet, all sorts of stuff. Would you rather the player go afk during the time and await the kick, or have them leave and then receive another player to fill in? Hot join is a place to go to just relax and play, no strings attached.
I say a much better solution would be to introduce a 3rd PvP lobby that sits in between tournaments and hot join on the srsbsns scale. Make it 5v5 and introduce the dishonorable penalty there so it can be used to play pick-up games that are more competitive and even allow premades in so people can practice for tournies and what not as well.
So its normal that almost EVERY game goes from 8 people on the team to 2-3 when they are loosing?

like this idea though
Yes it is normal, have you never played pvp online before?
Until a couple years ago, my primary mode of playing games online were FPS games like TF2. Rage quitting in those games was common, but no where near as often or rampant as in MMORPGs. Chalk part of it up to getting to pick my server, but ultimately, people didn’t seem to need some secondary feeling to make the game feel worthwhile in those games. You won, you lost, but it was all fun (unless it was a premade roflstomp). In MMORPGs, a ton of the population is driven solely by the rewards they get from doing stuff rather than simply the enjoyment of the gameplay itself. Hence the willingness to grind and do chores to keep up just for something that makes them feel proud/awesome. Since so many seem to be driven solely by the reward rather than the gameplay, it makes sense to me that so many rage quit, since their only means of deriving pleasure is winning (the reward) instead of the game itself.
this would be great. its hotjoin yes but the ragequit part is always then they loose. so you get changed to the team you tried so hard to beat great.
I think it is fine as is. :/ If they leave, call in one of your buddies to rough up the enemy team with you.

In the grand scheme of things, its not a big deal. If you want competitive play, find 4 friends and do tournaments. Hot join pub matches are nothing but casual, in any game.
for tournies, ok.
for hot-join, no.

its the leavers who cant stand losing, not the ones that stay and fight.
thats why they leave in most cases.
and yes, bring back dishonorable. no question about it.
Uhm, I’ll bet that 90% of those rage leavers you’re talking about, they just got a tourny queue pop and left you behind in your less than desirable 8v8 hotjoin.
This happens because of enormous waits between rounds and even waiting for matches to start. We can either jump around the stairs in the mists or do some hotjoin for a couple minutes. Better than nothing though sometimes I just prefer the stairs.
Hot join needs 5v5 option and then the free tournys wouldn’t be the hot-join alternative. Teams wouldn’t have to get bored with pub stomps, and pugs wouldn’t have to get steamrolled so much.
And make a more efficient tourney queue system and shorter wait time and things would be much nicer for everyone.
There are a lot of little things that could be improved for PVP…. wish they’d do it.

Yes! I note many people concerned with scores or rewards for spvp to “motivate” them. The thing I love about GW2 and the spvp hotjoin is that I can just play for fun, and I can play over and over again with everyone on an even playing field gear wise.
I really like the no questions asked hot join system, its given me pvp on demand and thats where the fun is at for me.
I don’t really understand why people would leave if they are losing, but I know that people may get interupted and have to pull out for a while and that seems fine to me. Great system.
Game becomes a stomp for a 4 v 5 majority of the game.
Player down on team leaves to force autobalancing.
Playerbase cries to penalize the player leaving a grossly unbalanced game and actually force it to be balanced.
Yep, typical internet intelligence.
Let’s stress this again. It’s hot join. People join it for casual fun. When they’re not having fun, or something else comes up, they leave. The only reason why it’s a big deal is that there’s no outlet for more serious players aside from Tournament play.
I don’t like getting stuck with uneven teams either but complaining about hot join is not the right direction to critique it.
The games I played in up until now (200+), there are very few leavers. Definitely not an issue for me.
If people want to leave because they are losing, that is just lame, but the game is designed for that, and it should NOT be changed IMO. I have to leave sometimes too because my son is into mischief, or someone is at the door, it is casual pvp.
Just keep in mind that the person who leave sacrifices all his glory/points in the fight for doing so, which really is the only material value of the fight.
The difference between win/loss point wise in hot join is negligible. So it’s more his loss than the loss of the players he left, especially if he forces an auto-balance.
I join 8v8 while waiting for 5v5 to pop. I don’t leave due to ragequits. I still think 8v8 is super casual and shouldn’t have penalties for leaving. That’s just silly especially when you consider that winning means jack-all in 8v8. You barely even get bonus glory for it. If winning were worth more, then I guess, but autobalance pretty much takes care of leavers anyway.
They do need it for 5v5, though. I’ve had too many 5v4s the last few days on both sides.
3 theives and a guardian healer pre-made again. No thanks – disconnected.
i never complained about leaver and unbalanced game because i can join new game and most new games i joined were well balanced or almost over. and it is hot-join. if you don’t like, go playing tournament. even COD, crysis 2, BF3, latest most multiplayer games have no such a debuff system. because it ruins the game and no one will buy the game.
