Dear ANET,
Legendary weapons require individuals to enter into WvW. They can avoid WvW combat to an extent, but they are still vulnerable to attack during jumping puzzles. In short, they must PvP in order to get their PvE loots.
This has led to many people, who would not have otherwise been interested in WvW, to become so. It is certainly not the exclusive reason for WvW’s popularity, and I’m not claiming as such, but I feel it’s undeniable that it has ended up bringing some people to WvW. I’m also quite certain that many people initially complained about this and probably still do, but you’ve stuck to your guns.
To that end, the time has come to introduce the PvE population to SPvP. By allowing the SPvP daily to give a laurel, you will increase SPvP’s popularity exponentially. Further, you might find a few people who exclusively SPvP becoming interested in PvE.
There’s no reason to have an invisible wall separating them. Let me say that again, there’s no reason for the wall because I’m not advocating that PvE gear come in or that PvP gear go out. All I’m saying is, it’s an excruciatingly easy adjustment that would improve player interaction. It would take a programmer an hour or less to code in laurels being attached to the SPvP daily, literally one hour. Think of all that could be gained from such a move.
Remember, there is the “Play Game” button in the bottom left of the hotjoin NPC. This button matches you up against equally skilled individuals. So as long as this was brought to people’s attention, they wouldn’t be getting “stomped” by seasoned players when trying to complete their daily.
Just a thought from a loyal customer.

We have been saying this for a long time right now.
PvP needs to also give PvE rewards to a certain extent, no matters what they are.
It’s the only way to increase PvP population and create a more cohesive community.
As it is now, sPvP feels like a totally separated entity, and this is damaging PvP, due to lack of interest from players.
Yep, cant see anything but positive sides this would bring. No reason not to do it.
I primarily WvW and last patch I just assumed the daily PvP was going to reward a laurel. I was initially excited I’d be able to get double laurels per day but also a little annoyed I felt like I had another chore to do each day before I can do whatever I want. I’m sort of torn on this.
What I feel they really need is unique armor/weapons skins unlocked for purchase at each sPvP rank that can be skinned over on the PvE side. I think the cosmetic draw would get more people in sPvP and also get more sPvP playing WvW with their PvP armor bling. I have a feeling they are going to update WvW to have it’s own system for this though with the progression update.
/agree
An incredibly easy way to get loads of people into the mists.
I suspect that the danger is that it would give the impression that spvp is a farming mini-game, rather then a stand-alone competitive game.

Small price to pay for resurrecting SPvP.
i also suggest that the gift of battle should be a gift of battle and not a gift of jumping puzzle. so obtaining them only via spvp would also do his part
I agree with OP this will promote partys forming up and people going into sPvP and learning a new way to play and enjoy, as well as giving PvE incentives for people who otherwise just grind face, and it’s not like laural is able to provide something that will make PvPers overpowered in PvE or make it something highly grindable to give an advantage. Plus for someone like me who dabbles in both, it would be a fun way to bring people from PvE into the sPvP scene.
Petition Signed, Make It So.
It would be cool, but there would also be a lot of complaints from pure PvEers. A lot of PvEers feel the need to get the maximum possible rewards, but hate PvP with a passion. If it’s possible to get 2 laurels in 1 day, they’ll do it, but they probably won’t enjoy it. Unfortunately, hotjoins are not balanced, and you are not guaranteed to play against people of equal rank (much less equal skill level) when using the “play now” button. I’m afraid that this idea would encourage a lot of people to try PvP, but very few of them to stay.
Maybe it would be better to only reward 1 laurel per day, but it could be for completing PvE OR PvP dailies? PvEers would still come over and try it, especially if it became known how easy it is to get the daily PvP reward (probably even faster than the PvE daily). But they wouldn’t feel “forced” to PvP.
If you don’t believe me, start the same thread in “general GW2 discussion” or “dungeons,” and watch the forum explode. Actually, that sounds kind of fun.
I addressed a lot of your concerns in my first post brah. That being said, if you allowed getting a laurel from one or the other, it might not bring in the population. They’d prolly just stick to what they know. Just double the laurel costs and add laurels to PvP daily.
I know, I was just expressing why Anet will probably not do laurels for PvP (and why that will be a good business decision on their part). If you don’t believe me, take the challenge and post it in general discussion or dungeons, and see if the PvE population likes the idea but prepare for some serious flaming.
If it’s limited to 1 laurel/day, PvE or PvP, it’s true—a lot of PvEers won’t come to try PvP at all. But some will, and they are the ones who might actually enjoy it anyway. A good tradeoff, in my opinion.
I dunno.. forcing people to feel like they need to do certain things they don’t want to do has never been my favorite part of playing a game.
Grinding PVE armor to pvp for instance… this ruined a lot of games for me.
If people don’t like to pvp they’re not going to enjoy being forced into it…
Some people just enjoy different aspects of the game…
What we need is to make the mode of play(spvp) appeal to a wider audience without destroying what it is at it’s core, or dumbing it down.
Matchmaking system, 1tv1t 2tv2t tournaments, 2v2 /3v3, more maps, more game modes, bugfixes , small balance changes, even Templates would go a long way in rejuvenating the pvp population. Band aids like incentive+1 Laurel, are in the works afaik would be nice for hardcore pvpers who don’t do laurels at all but don’t bet on it moving numbers to spvp.
As long as Paids pop instantly, I’d say the population is ATLEAST moderately healthy.
