Waiting To ReRoll Mystic & Forget About Tyria
(edited by choovanski.5462)
your title says you have a problem with meta builds… then you mention dd thief (a wvw meta build, and a non meta build for pvp). it’s obvious by the builds you are complaining about (most of which are not meta) that you are not good at the game. guild wars 2 is actually quite difficult to start with contrary to what many forum posters say. the initial learning curve is very steep, and its going to take you a few 100 games to get even ‘meh’.
furthermore, when specialisations are introduced all the current meta builds will be gone. so, just wait.

Greetings, I fairly new to pvp but
…. I still want to start talking about pvp balance even if I have no idea about the game.
GW2 is one of, if not the most complicated MMO in existence mechanically speaking.
The addition of dodging, tons of condi’s, tons of boons, tons of variation in specs, tons of variation in class mechanics means that it can take awhile to pick up.
For example understanding that in GW2 every skill (almost) has a utilities function is unlike any other mmo. In fact skills are very rarely used purely for dps where in other mmo’s all skills are just variations of dps with very little utility.
All that being said it’s hard to learn. Practice more and try to join a guild with people who can just tell you things so you dont have to figure it all out on your own.
Also remember that you don’t know anything and your perception of what is or is not OP is skewed because you’re new.
I lol’d. Necro meta
All seriousness though. You need to get a few hundred games under your belt, learn tells and mechanics and all what you mention above will more or less vanish. As mentioned above gw2 pvp is a huge learning curve and we’ve all been there.
Greetings, I fairly new to pvp
enough said
Practice before complaining, alot of things may seem completely unbalanced, untill you figure out how everything works and that most can be countered.Like you said with hamm your being thrown around and knocked back, look closely at the animations,go spectate some hotjoins and watch people play paying close attention to the animations and skill rotations.Hammer is one of the easiest ingame weaps to avoid/dodge,when it comes to thieves if you see them coming at you and starting off with stealth it means they’re gonna make a combo at you in 1/2 sec,be ready to dodge or pop an invulnerability.
I fairly new to pvp
I fairly new to pvp
:D
@OP
The meta you describe doesn’t exist, although there’s a ton of pewpew rangers now. Due to no versatility and several nerfs, DD thief has not been PvP meta since release.
The meta is broken
I’m new to pvp
power ranger, dd thief, hammer gs warrior meta ops
you made my day, thank you
You’re mentioning NONE of the current meta builds. Maybe only infinite health ele, whatever that may be.
Mostly you mention professions/builds that can do quite some damage to you. It takes time and practice to survive them, it has nothing to do with being OP.
Hate to say this as I also hate the meta and how it restrains the game as a whole but if you don’t like it become it briefly and see how it ticks and make a viable counter build. Don’t be afraid to experiment and don’t be afraid to use a meta build with the purpose of modifying it to your own ends. You can use the meta against itself in a very personally satisfying way. As a note you may also be running across anti meta builds, something to consider.
Here’s to hoping this guy is currently one satisfied troll.
Are there even any players who bother with PvP long enough to understand it?
Because clearly it’s so frustrating at entry level that people stop taking it seriously and start treating it as a quick way to get some dailies done.
“A poor mechanic blames his tools.” There are no bad classes, only bad players.
Try positioning your toon better. The dodge skill was , and still is the most important key press in GW2, learning its nuances is the key to everything becoming easier for all of us.
i hated the meta builds too, if you don’t like the meta, fight it. at this moment I’ve been making very unorthodox builds, and most of them are successfull with figthing on pair with the meta. some of them have some similairities of the meta, most of them are heavily modified or not even meta’s at all.
