The portal from the cannon back to the mainland is an arch and you can hug the portal and not be knocked off the sides because you just get hit into the pillars. This should be changed so that if you touch the portal it ports you through. This would make the cannon fights even more interesting because you could hit players back through the portal and use the cannon while they are discombobulated. At the moment it gives an unfair advantage to classes that can pull and launch because they can get players out of that alcove.

On the side: MAKE IT SO THAT WE CAN STUNBREAK THE LAUNCH CC!

The cannon is already absurdly easy to defend. It’s basically impossible to push a necro or engi off of it 1v1 currently, and it’s a tough fight for 2v1.

ok so we’re missing Warrior and Ranger and they’re pretty good at melee combat if you just hug the portal all the time you can kill people there.

If players are hugging the portal then they’re not using the cannon so basically you’re disabling the cannon for as long as possible until you win the fight in the cannon room. There’s nothing broken about this.

You can either fight at the door, wait for backup, or just pray the rest of your team is capping points while you’re disabling the cannon.

Send a stealth thief up there to screw with them. Let them aoe as much as they want go in stealthed. Step on a platform, get off of platform, scorpion wire and profit. A caltrops p/d stealth thief could also be viable in preventing cannon use. Blinds are also a powerful tool against cc. The more time spent fighting in the cannon room the less the enemy is actually using the cannon.

P/D thief are you serious? They’ll do minimal damage while the staff necro spams AoE that the thief won’t be able to dodge (and will nullify his condition damage with Dagger 4 + consume conditions). Guardian or toolkit engi accomplish virtually the same thing by spamming knockbacks and AoE until the thief is toast. P/D thieves have never been viable for ANYTHING besides ganking in hotjoin + WvW O.o

Thieves should be fine getting engis and guards or at least have a good chance getting them, if they are caught off guard. Necros are a no no. A good necro will drop marks at the door (which are undodgeable I think) and then they’ll drop more marks right away (if they drop it ahead of time it’ll be off cd usually by the time of an ambush) and bam already hit with a bunch of marks and possibly condis trying to ambush a necro and they don’t even have to see you since the marks cover almost the entire canon room. Then comes fear spam and aoes to finish you off or at least scare you out of the room. Then place the marks again.

With blind while stealthing it’s not exactly easy to land attacks (with blind in general).
With clearing condi’s and healing in stealth it can be very hard to apply a significant amount of condi pressure on a thief.
Let’s not forget that you have evades and stunbreaks.
The thief isn’t trying to cap a node. The thief is there to prevent you from using the cannon so he has all the time in the world.
A Thief stealing from a necro in the cannon room can also be GG no matter what build they run if the necro/any class doesn’t use a stunbreak accordingly.
