I just recently get to diamond. From what i see, each class only have 1 viable build
Chill Reaper
Trap Medi DH
Healing Power Tempest
Condi Chrono
Brusier Scrapper
Mender Druid
Some Maradur DD, and Condi Berzeker

Don’t yall think it’s getting boring ??? Remember Pre-HOT where each class has at least 2 or 3 viable builds to them instead of just everyone running the same build.
Power/ condi Necro
Power medi Guardian, bunker Guardian, burn Guardian
Power shatter Mesmer, condi Mesmer, and PU
Cele ele, zeker staff, fresh air Ele
P/P or P/S condi Engi. cele rifle Engi
LB/GS Ranger, A/T & S/D condi Ranger, Condi SB
Power/ Condi thief ( I apologized I’m not familiar with Thief and Warrior)
Shout Warrior, GS/Hammer, Ham/bow, Ham/GS…

After HOT, majority of these build just reduce down to 1 build for each class. Don’t ya see what’s wrong with Elite spec??

I remember a time when I used to look at the weapons and any signets or other utilities that showed up on the bars of my teammates to guess what they were running before the match started. Nowadays you just look at the professions on the scoreboard…

You packed pre-HoT builds like they existed and performed in one meta. Wasn’t a case.

Druid has more than just Mender , the build is Equaly nearly the same each time but the following amulets are used by druids

Sage
Cleric
Vayalkire
Crusader
marauder
Viper

i’ve played all of these but marauder and mender.

and honestly a ranger can do fine or even good without druid but he must invest in more traited defences like Protective warden + striders defence and beastmastery for regen swiftness so somthing like Skirmishing/marksman/BM/wilderness or NM(bountiful hunter, evasive purity) , Wilderness knowledge and Skirmishing (primal reflexes+striders defence and quickdraw with a power Amulet , the defence becomes Regular evading+dodging and projecile defence while the NM buffs the pet (this set up us best used with Knights or valkyrie +might runes holbrek or Strenght depending on weapons + defences and 1 or two condi clear/transferance sigils.

a lot of people forget that sceptors are projeciles and just having striders defence cuts condi application by 50% while using melee attacks just watch out for Shatters and melee spikes from reapers ect things that appy condis on Aoe or directly in melee.

core ranger is still viable , but the fact is Druid provides better Team effects for solo play, core ranger can still be viable in a team comp which does include a different support source e.g team org of
this effective team is only 2 HoT specs or None if you don’t include tempest/DH or druid.
1xrev (mid fighter)
1x DH / boon+elixer engi. (mid fighter+ secondary support)
1x Core GS/sword+axe ranger (knights beastmastery+soilder runes or leadership so the elite converts condis into boons.) Roamer and Mid fighter running interruptions and CC using Quickdraw and High quickness upkeep.
1x Condi shatter mesmer (Decaper and 1vs1 contesting)
1x Support spec Druid/medi guard(hammer version) or a tempest (Mid support to far decap.

as long as the team contributes in some way the comp works but for solo que reasons mender druid is the safest route and is fairly Equip to deal with nearly any team setup.

This is an obvious result from HoT power creep. Core classes are designed to fulfill different roles, and elite specs were here to add diversity by allowing a new type of roll. But because the elite specs are so much stronger, all old builds are dead and you are now forced to play the elite specs, which are designed for a specific roll.

For example: guardian had offensive (condi or power) and support builds. DH was meant as a more selfish version and does not support condi as much: only power build left.

Boon currupt builds, some people do well with power still as well…both still give off plenty of chill tho

While its true that this game hasn’t TRULY had build diversity in a long time (most of the time every class has at most 1 truly meta build, while some over-tuned classes have 2), the gap between meta builds and the next tier of builds has only gotten larger and larger as power has crept up and up. That is one of the biggest downsides of power-creep from the pvp perspective.

Like sure, fresh air ele was never as good as d/d ele, but it was quite usable in the right tourney comp and would be seen every now and then. Since HoT, no build other than “the 1” for each class (using the elite spec) has shown up in the tourney. The only non-elite to even show up was Honey’s staff ele, and that build got so outgunned it wasn’t even close.

I remember i used to enjoy theorycrafting build so much. Now, i don’t even bother to cuz i know no matter what i come up with, it will never be as good as the meta build. so RIP gw2 build diversity
