Bunker Guard Viable?
I don’t know if its viable playing against really good players, but you can certainly hold a point 1vs1 or even 2vs1 for a while.
It depends on how you spec but basically the pros are lots of healing, blocks, invuns, and knockbacks. Shield of courage (traited) gives you 12 secs of near invulnerability and condi cleanse while still being able to contest or hold a point. Plus 3 secs of invun from renewed focus gives a lot of time for help to come.
Cons are lack of ranged attack if you don’t take LB, and you are vulnerable to rev, some thieves, and heavy/sustained condition damage. Also you don’t have a lot of access to stability, unless you give up some condition removable or other benefit. I’m not sure if its possible to bring a lot of group support either while still being a strong bunker.
Last match I played we tried to 2v1 a bunker guard that was basicly unkillable without perfect focus and a ton of CC. I imagine he could could have held any point 1v1 indefinetly. So still seems plenty viable.
Personally I fail to see the point though. A DH thats slightly less tanky will do a ton more damage with traps.
Does viable mean 1vs1 a point forever and stalling 2vs1 for several minutes? Yes. Does it mean being as good a support as elem and delivering victories by outnumbering yourself then letting your team cap other points? Probably not because elem has much more mobility.
I play ele and i can 1:1 bunker a point and at least stall a bit if he gets +1. Depending on oponent he might force me off point for a few seconds. For mobility i have swiftness on demand which seems sufficient. I usualy move on when i am shure it´s won and let a temmate like a guradian cap.
My guildie plays a staff bunker guard in PvP occasionally and does really well, especially if you duo with a DPS class.

Burn DH is almost as tanky as bunker Guardian, but with the advantage of having much better kill capacity. In PvP is a bit less eficient than in WvW due the lack of dire stats, but in WvW it ties (if not beats) eles. It loses vs power DH, though.
