The good thing about it IMO is that it’s able to deal regular damage and condi damage because of carrion, so unlike Deadshot builds you have two damage sources. Not to mention you have sustain options.
It’ll be interesting to see this in Ranked and how it works.
Burn guard was a skillful build and fun pre HoT. I made my guard for the medi burn build pre pvp seasons. After HoT tho it’s now a class fresh start people can play since there is no longer a high skill cap needed. Burn guard just feels too boring now for me
with burn block biurn blocck invulnerability all day. I need a challenge on a game not just press 3 buttons and wait for burn to work. Hopefully next expansion will open pvp up more for guardians because right now it’s the 1,00 block burn build or nothing. Most classes have a few ways to play in pvp but guard just has 1 right now. Block burn guard.
Enjoy it now its a strong build. I see anet fixing the broken build eventually since they did a “patch” and it didn’t fix much. Next patch may be harsh on the skills for burn.

I don’t understand the usage of Zealot’s Aggression over Bulwark here. Maybe it was a mistake?
Also, why Contemplation of Purity over Purging Flames? Condition management shouldn’t be a problem as DH, especially with this build – and even if it was PF is still a strong clear.
He trade the block duration and the f3 buff for more condition application via passive (aoe) virtue of justice plus cover condition so the damage it’s ok and only more sustains tools are needed.
Purging Flames it’s more required for core guardians for the group support (cleanse) and the burst from active f1 to suppress foes while cced, core guardians take more advantage from radiance for the f1 reset on kill, DH don’t really need it.

I still don’t get why he’d take CoP over PF though? Losing AoE burn burst + AoE cleanse and condi reduction for some unneeded cleanse and a few boons seems like a bad trade to me but maybe there’s something I’m missing.
I sort of see the point with the cover conditions (could also take fallibility to cover) however bulwark is a huge buff, and an extra cripple and pure dps increase doesn’t seem to be?

Zealot’s Aggression cripples the target, and causes your justice to proc Vuln and Cripple. Absolutely vital to cover up your burns so that they cant be cleansed as easily.
Condition management is absolutely a problem. This build can solo necros, condi revs, condi thieves, power thieves, power necros, rangers…. but it needs to have Contemplation for the stun break as well as the INSANE boons you get from clearing them with this spell.
In addition, when you use Contemplation, you are healed for about 2,000 HP. Definitely should be factored in if you want to choose Purging Flames.
I find Purging Flames is very easy to avoid in comparison to Judge’s intervention, which is instant and ALSO heals and ALSO breaks stuns.

You can build 10+ stacks of burning easy without Purging Flames. The extra sustain/cleanse from CoP doesn’t hurt in the absence of Focus 5 and Bulwark, and it’s also a stun break, which is good for both offense and defense. I only played this build one match, but I didn’t really miss Purging Flames at all, though I think swapping the skills out depending on the matchup would be reasonable enough.
Since this build doesn’t use Doom Sigil, the extra cover condi (not to mention snare) from Zealot’s Aggression is welcome. It also synergizes with Permeating Wrath, making the cripple AOE (in addition to the burning). You sacrifice a little bit of sustain, but it seemed to be worth it from what I could tell.
And what I like about this build: using your healing skills more efficiently HEAVILY rewards you with a 1v1 win. the difference between using contemplation when a necro stuns with reaper 5, and using contemplation when the reaper uses 5 and spins on you with 4…. you gain all that health back, plus DELETE all of the condi damage he just did to you, rather than “only” break stun of 5, and then you get to eat a spin..
On a power necro though you probably want to avoid the spin…
