What would happen if a “service” were offered on the Gem Store to reset your MMR to mid-point?

If you have been unfairly placed too low in SoloQ to get fair matches without leavers, dancers, etc…then this would be a way out that would generate some revenue as well.

It would create (or increase) the perception that ANet created a horribly faulty system just to make a few extra bucks. Not the PR I’d want as a company.

I doubt that people would spend money on this unless they are serious PvPers who do want to have good games and get better.

Oh, it wouldn’t necessarily be bad for players.

I’m just saying it would really make ANet look greedy and manipulative.

I am certain the reason PvP is where it is stems from a financial decision by ArenaNet management to have employees work on portions of the game that serve the most players and that will ultimately generate more Gem Store sales, since that is the game’s financial model.

Love it or hate it, the monthly subscription model is being dropped and in-game microtransactions like the Gem Store is the way MMOs are going.

This would allow serious PvP to “pay for itself” and get some development resources.

An ELO reset on-demand for the rich baddies? God no! Deal with your ranking and improve.

No Quickfoot, for people who were put on 4-person teams and got tanked into ELO hell. It’s not about “being bad”.

Why don’t you just enjoy solo q without obsessing over the leader board. You’ve played 15 solo q games since its been released and created over 50 topics obsessing over it or screaming for attention.

Because the games are not fun unless you have 4 teammates, and those teammates try to win (instead of dancing and standing around cracking jokes).

Lux, I see that you are at 279. It’s completely different in the low percentage range.

I know, I have two identical characters on two accounts. One is at 720, the other was started two days ago and from the start did not get serious players on the team, or even 5 team members at all times. That character is probably at 15% or something with very little apparent chance to climb out anytime soon.

I get afkers, quitters, trolls, people throwing matches due to failed syncs but what I have come to accept and what most people will accept sooner or later is that it’s random arenas with variables not easily controlled by arena net. Sure they could make some quality of life fixes or add incentives not to cheat the system but in the end the biggest problem is other players. Realizing that those losses do not reflect your ability and not taking the leader board in random arenas too seriously is what’s going to give you the most fun because you’d be in the game playing instead of spending most of that time in the forums complaining about the current system.

Did I stop playing when my winrate was almost 75% ? No. I don’t care about LB I just want to play.

On topic, I understand why you’re asking for this but no, it would make it seem like the LB is more important than it really is.

If you’re good I won’t know from the LB. I will know because you gave me a hell of a fight in game. Not because you went 11-0 and sat at rank 1 for 17 hours.

The MMR reset would be to get you playing with the competitive, serious players. It’s about the play experience, not the leaderboard.

You want competitive and serious? Go tPvP. There are just as many no-shows and afkers at my level as the others.

I have watched his first game. He was carried, and joked about how it was his worst game ever. His team was stong, not the AFK and dancers I get on my alt account that is down in the low low ranks with several bad games so far.

I will be looking at the rest of Symbolics games to see if he overcame the kind of crap so many others are running into if they start now.

Silentshoes. You can carry games if you are good enough. ELO Hell is a famous escuse used in many games, so I just ignore it, like the rest.

Quickfoot K, I think you are wrong there. I think the myth is that one person can win with several of his teammates standing around dancing, or AFK at the base. When you leave a point, the other team just takes it back, you know? And while you kill the treb on Kylo, they take all three points. And so on.

Well, for the sake of argument, let’s say a top-skilled player can do it, but an average player cannot. And a new player certainly has no hope of doing so at all.

Is that the way this game should work to keep new people playing?

On one account I am in the top 1000, and I get good matches.

On the alt account, (playing an identical build) I am DEEP in the low percentages. Although I am usually the top scoring player and do everything I can as a spirit ranger to buff the team and help them win, I am still stuck.

Or.. maybe.. for glory? Just so we can do something with glory. 50k for reset and make it a once per month thing?

I think someone playing a spirit ranger should have an easier job cutting through the leaderboards and it happens to be true. No offense.

I played from 5 percent to 70 percent at the old system… solo only. And I think there were a lot of other people that queued solo so I think it should be possible to do the same at the new SoloArena.

It will only take ages for everyone to get a rating. Even if you play a lot now you can still get tons of bad matches after 100 matches played cause the others still don’t have a real rating and trolls might be there(that will drop with the time).

Will take some time. A few months for the majority to have enough matches played. Not everyone is playing every day this is why it will take time.

Good point. You get people with provisional ratings who don’t deserve them, but the system doesn’t know it yet.
