Call of Duty?
There are actually many strategies. You will only see them past 400 rank position, though. yeah, elo hell is all about spaming pve rotations to moving targets
There is an established strategy. Stand in a circle and die while an Elementalist zips from point A to point B generally killing things or annoying people.
Well… atleast that seems to be the Meta for the time being.
There doesn’t seem to have been an established strategy to the pvp, whereas im much reminded of dominion league of legends by it, everyone just runs around spamming abilities haha. It’s been the worst experience for me on gw2. Anyone else experiencing the same problems?
if you’re queing solo its up to you to make your own strategy, you only run around and spam if you want. you can assign yourself the task of defending close point, bunker mid point, buff collecting etc etc and you can try to talk about all this with your team pre-match. if you see others just running around like chickens try to chat and tell them what you think is best.
ya i could talk all day about what i think is funny about the balances, but it is definitely not really possible for a pug to execute strategies very well in this type of play, this feels more like for giggles than anything else. at least it makes me laugh. :P I think i’ll stick to league of legends pvp too hard not comparing it and being sad in pants. PVE fun tho
At least play a decent MOBA.
Smite all the way.
if gw2 made a moba game mode like smite i’d be all about it, but smite itself meh. cheese factory.
I’d say 15mil+ players and leading the esport community is more than “decent” haha, but that’s just me
LOL is popular because noobs with no skill can play it.
Skill level required to do well at LOL is nothing compared to gw2.
one could say that about any videogame. GW2 pvp is ability spam, all a matter of opinion vs. opinion. I just look at the numbers, it tells all. LoL forces team synergy which is rewarding or very frustrating, but worth the learning curve. For someone to say “noobs play it” is very typical for an ignorant person to say, and im pretty sure you’re a league player from that comment haha with one too many spankings in games.

Ability spam would make you die very quickly against a Confusion or Retaliation based build.
I don’t see where you point is justified at all.
GW2 is about changing the way you play your build vs different professions and their build. I wouldn’t fight a Trap Ranger the way I fight a Thief.
And team play has many different strategies and compositions that get used on different maps.

This. Unless you play ele and you’re the one rocketing around the map..
Solo queue has no team game. A game mode is needed that forces it, so players are learning and progressing. Can’t have a likeable pvp if average joes can’t jump in and start learning strategy. Right now there is no curve it’s simply jump in and hope your team doesn’t get spanked.
I don’t like crap like LoL because too many players are playing it(all the 15 million idiots) and I don’t want to learn hundreds of heroes abilities(they could just have made a few and it would be enough to play a game) to only play same boring game mode same map over and over… also heard games matches take longer than 30 minutes… oh and boring rts view where you have to point ant click to move the hero.
Nothing I want to play… makes me more sleepy than sleeping pills to play such boring crap.

It depends on the players if they want to play as team… but that goes for every game. Game mode is there. You have to capture the points. And they already made some more new interesting maps for exampel the one with the orb(a bit like capture the flage) and you have to protect the orb carrier. Of course you can just go around and kill others(if you are able to) but they most likely will get more points and win if they capture points and you don’t.
Also the fun thing is that there are more strategies depending on the situation.

I guess i’d really like to see this so called strategy in action to bring up my interest in the pvp in this game. I felt like every match i played was utter chaos and not enjoyable.
Because i love gw2 don’t get me pinned wrong, i want to like the pvp haha when end game pve gets dry, this is the purpose for pvp for me. The real end game.
if gw2 made a moba game mode like smite i’d be all about it, but smite itself meh. cheese factory.
Rofl it would be a complete failure there are rarely any updates for pvp what makes you think they would change?
Solo queue is what you make it.
Can’t just sit on the forums and complain that the other 4 people didn’t plan anything. What did you try and do to form a strategy or ask about what builds people are playing to get some form of synergy going?
well that’s the thing, the game hasn’t evolved into people having a certain purpose for players yet, no format, “planning” may be ok you two go here…we go here…it’ll still turn chaotic ya know? that’s why more game modes like 2v2 would you see real skill and planning, my thought tho is i wanna see that same kind of calculation in a 5v5. no one is complaining ezrael, discussing, no need to go full on fanboy haha

depends on team communication. i try to establish it early, ask what everyone’s doing etc, try and establish what builds every one is using, etc. it’s basically the new players who stay silent, or the ones who are slightly afk for fear of being called out though. when i first started playing Tpvp i would ask “hey so what’s the plan?” and the more experienced player would just say something, i’d go along and then modify it if it works to better suit me.
that being said, high level strategy doesn’t happen at lower tiers and having an entry plan will help quite a bit. doesn’t help when the silent players don’t read chat though. it’s safe to say most players don’t know every maps meta. so it’s hard to achieve a perfect strat. basically having an entry plan and attempting to create communication first thing is a great way of figuring out how each player plays.
