I got tired of the cheese builds that take advantage of the terribly broken targeting in this game.

Playing a warrior, im fighting a ranger 1vs1 on point. I have him targeted, no problems. My hits are hitting him, no problems. no complaints. Then a minion necro shows up. The rest of the fight, is a fight to keep the target on the ranger.

I’m hitting tab, or left clicking him to retarget him up to to 10 times before i finally go down because the game keeps auto targeting these minions that get in the way of my attacks. How is this allowed to be a viable strategy for victory in this game? This goes beyond meta, it’s a straight up exploit.

tl;dr; too much anti-targeting in this game

Disable auto targeting?

Enable “Promote Skill Target” in your Options > Control Options menu.

You’ll only change targets if the person you’re focus firing on suddenly enters Stealth, or he uses the Taunt skill on you. Taunt will force you to attack his pet – I don’t recall Necromancers having this ability though.

they made targeting npc’s priority because mesmers would cry hard if it wasnt…… even if you dont auto target tab goes to pets, if you physically shove a target above your opponents head and they stealth and use previous target it will go to pets/clones because they would cry hard that they cant hide behind npc spam.

you just need to learn to click better with a mouse that vanishes in the cluster kitten of particles and is not visible when you use it to move and if you move the mouse even a little while trying to click a moving target it drags the screen instead.
