Guild Wars 2

Every time I go against a decent one, they seem to just run in circles with permanent full boons on. I end up killing myself with Retaliation about 75% of the time (I tried waiting til it fell off, but it doesn’t…). I play an Engineer, so maybe Elementalists are strong vs Engineers or maybe I’m awful. I can’t seem to do any more than about 50% of their health before they’re back at full (through Poison) and I’m killing myself again.

I’d just like some pointers to how to play against them, please <3

I guess you are a power engineer? Try condition damage instead.

Did you checked the HgH guide from ostricheggs? This works well for me against Elementalists. Anyway Elementalists are favorite of the month at the moment.

Ele have perma-buff, perma Regen+another Regen (by water trait), different very good healing skills,some excellent difensive earth skills and very good evasive and stun effect air skills. How can someone fight against a good ele and hope to win? Expecially for tank build ele.
I’m a Guardian and I can survive a lot against an Ele, but I win only against bad ele users. Against a good player that play an Ele class you can’t win. That’s all.

Ignore them, they’re overpowered and are sure to be nerfed. Decent damage, immune to conditions, perma boons, plenty of get out of jail free cards, and to top it all off ride the lightning = immune to cc + escape.
I say this because if anet does not nerf these eles, spvp in gw2 is going to be even more of a laughing stock than it is now. The remnants of their reputation is on the line.

Well retaliation and stealth on elementalist are really OP for sure…..

Elementalists don’t have retaliation.

Are you fighting on a point and hitting others nearby that do have retaliation while aiming at the ele or something?

if you are talking about usuall cantrip ele build, you need to spike him, he have very low health, solid armor and very good regen/heal, so you cant usually kill him with sustain dmg, thats all… or you can try heavy condition build, if you can stack enough conditions on him, he cant take them all down, maybe once if he have cleansing fire (50sec CD, 40 if traited), other skills remove only 1, if you get bleed+poison+chill+something up and after cleansing fire once again, he is in trouble

PS: as others said before me, ele dont have retaliation

Bunker eles are too strong, but heavy condition damage (with poison there) or a well-placed burst are good means to take them down.
