I’m only Rank 12 in SPvP at the moment but I’m trying to better myself. I’ve only just found out bout free tournaments today and I’m somewhat enjoying them so far. I’m winning maybe half my games and finally getting some half decent looking gear.

I’ve heard/seen “Hotjoin” and “SoloQ” being thrown around a lot on the forums. Could anyone please explain them to me?
I’m joining the Solo Queue for free Tournaments, so I’m assuming that’s what SoloQ is referring to, but I can’t seem to suss out what Hotjoin is.

If anyone could explain it would be appreciated.

Hotjoin is the NPC to the left when you enter the mists;
the one where you can select the server and join a fight instantly.

So hotjoin is basically just the “fun” PvP servers where you only get glory per match. And solo queue is tournaments where you only get rewarded with a win?

You could call it that.

Hot joins are non-rated matches. They support matches from 1v1 to 8v8 and the only thing to be won is glory indeed (and as of a consequence pvp levels). Because of this, they are intended for casual play or testing new builds.

SoloQ is called solo arena in this game. They are 5v5 games exclusively (let alone leavers and dc’s:p :p :p). As the name implies you cannot play with a friend in theory. But the main difference with hot joins is the presence of a ladder and a matchmaking system that matches you with and against players so that games are balanced (once again in theory:p :p)

You also have team arenas that allow you to play with friends (1 to 4). They work pretty much the same way as solo arenas but have their separate ladder.
