Can we finally fix engineer downed state?
How are engis different than the downed states of necros, guardians, warriors? They could all be blinded/stability stomped.
Engis have the pull and the blowout which is extremely strong if not blinded.
The only downed state that needs fixing is a ranger’s because of the 900r AOE interupt and lick wounds.

Guardians get instant HUGE AOE knock+they are super tanky+can heal themselves to boot removing 3 weaknesses i pointed out. engineer got only 1 worthless single target pull.
Necros can heal themselves nonstop with 1 giving them very tanky downed state+2-3 sec fear is by far more superior to 1 sec knock that PULLS ENEMY TO YOU+it’s channeled multihit and that counters blinds in some cases. Not even mentioning that fear can’t be obstructed and doesn’t need target facing. Really necros even in downed state can kill some classes 1v1 from FULL HP.
Warriors 2 is balanced by fact that his 3 is nearly imbalanced. new life for 15 sec that has 50% chance to rally you(100% with trait) if you kill/stomp. It’s is everything you can wish for as any class.

I don’t think you should take the comps of current “top teams” seriously. Engis are still a top tier class with huge teamfight presence.

Engineer has one of the weakest downstates, even with the two cc abilities. However, I don’t think it needs to be changed. Remember what happened last year when eles got their downed state 2 and 3 reversed right when people figured out how good eles were?
OP: engineers are a pretty strong profession in tournaments atm. We may not be as mandatory as a guardian or as easymode as a hambow warrior, but people fear us, for good reason. The engineer subforum is filled with people who sincerely believe that engineers are very weak, but the same is true of all 7 other profession subforums.
In other words, people in the forums are absolutely, dead wrong much of the time. That includes this PvP forum as well

I agree with that. I’d put engineer and necro at 7 and 8 in terms of downed state effectiveness, but again, it’s not a huge deal and I don’t think either should be changed, especially since necro and engineer are already in a good place even with weak downed states.

I’ll rephrase it for you so you could see how you sounded in any normal persons eyes:
“Engi soloed 4 people once he was downed and didn’t get healed or get help from a team even once, true story, engi down state OP!!1!one!!eleven!!!”
Anyway, the problem with Ele wasn’t downed state reversal that made them imba, it was all class’s strengths combined, engi won’t get even close to that thanks to horrible implementation of kits mechanics that makes us waste utility slots just to be playable.
Necro’s downed state is stronger considering my previously listed reasons, and necro is a known top tier class that is present in every single good team, simple as that.

Hold on now, ranger’s downed state is at least in the top four. That ranged aoe interrupt, F2, possibility to see a second pet skill, not to mention that downed 3. The list is pretty much like this:
1. Ele
2. Mesmer
3. Thief
4. Ranger
5. Guardian
6. Warrior
7. Engineer
8. Necro
The 3 on necro does insane damage. It’s not just, “friggin poison.”

The point is without assistance it’s not really saving your ass/prolonging your ability to linger. I didn’t say our downed damage is terrible, but hopefully that will never be a race because that’d mean everyone is dead x.X

War, engi, necro have definitely the worst downstate. All of them can be countered by blind/stab/stealth/multi opponent
Ele has by far the best one in vapor form, followed by thief and mesmer
Guardian is pretty balanced here, can be countered by blind/stab
Ranger downed state is OP underwater due to bug allowing pet to rez even when hes “dead” but no1 cares about underwater anyway. On land its balanced. 2 is countered by stab/blind/stealth, 3 takes a while to get off cd and even then pet can be killed/stunned.

I think they should change the RNG factor on the downstate engineer autoattack, Ive lost so many downfights because instead of putting bleed on the target id stack chill on him lol.

Nothing scientific about what your said dragonkin. Also necros fear can easily be dodged, I do it all the time. You can blind every down state #2 skill and make it useless besides ele.
You just gotta accept the limitations of your class and stop complaining. Downstate is already stupid in pvp/wvw anyway.

Oh and if you speak about that silly static discharge build just go s/d thief or warrior. The only map where an engi can do anything useful is that 2 bosses one where alot of walls on side points so he can kite around them and spam bomb kit in the process so that people don’t just roll over him using ranged attacks as it happens on all other maps.
Engies are the 2nd most ridiculously OP class under Warrior right now, I say no to Downstate buffs…

I’m going to have to ask you to stop using this to support your silly argument, please. See attached for a start. Engis do not take the same role as a necromancer at all. Try training an engi like you do a necromancer, he’ll probably dodge 40 times and use 80 stunbreaks.
