It requires a minimum of 3 people to kill these guys; meanwhile they can dish out more damage then they receive from 3 people. They can escape safely and faster then any class too.
I get that the class takes time to learn and that’s great and all that it rewards talent, but there is zero reason as to why this class should be able to fight that many people and win in this current burst meta. Even people who play poorly can’t seem to die on this class.

-Yes this is from a Warrior’s perspective so feel free to laugh at me but I’d like to hear a valid reason as to why this build/Class shouldn’t be nerfed as it literally has no counter aside from taking a whole team to kill it.

-I really don’t want to hear anything about rampage cause yeah sure its dmg is crazy and broken too I get it and I want it nerfed just as much as you, but at least you can counter it by kiting, spamming blind, blocking, etc..

-If anyone has any tips to fight them (other then the obvious “avoid the fire aoe’s”) I’d like to hear it but at this rate it feels completely hopeless.

-I’d rant about Mesmers too but I think there’s plenty of other threads open to that.

Long answer: It takes 1 person to kill a D/D ele unless they are really good. Bring chill or just don’t fight it, rotate elsewhere. 99% of D/D ele’s cannot kill anything anyways, just watch out for the few good elementalist players. And here I thought Condi Guard and Power Mes hard-countered D/D Cele in addition to D/P Thief and Power Necro now. I guess double the amount of hard counters from meta to meta isn’t enough for some people.

Why ?

Just curious. I do not play a DD ele in SPVP I use other builds, but I dont have much trouble going against them on my engi, mes, thief or necro, granted the bunker variety are difficult to kill, but they cant dislodge me either and while the fights stretch the score keeps ticking in my favor.

So since I dont seem to have your troubles soloing them, I can not understand why your group of 3 can’t. Therefore I have to disagree with you on your call for an ele nerf.

On the otehr side, mesmers need to break stealth on any “hostile” action, not x seconds later, and warriors rampage needs a serious nerf.

I do not understand your guys issues, please be more specific and /or ask for advice on how to fight them, or counter build in your respective class forums.

I mainly play pug games (yes i know that’s where I first went wrong) and 90% of any rag-tag team I’m on we can’t take down D/D Eles or it takes like 3 mins just to do so in which case we’ve now just lost so much points focusing one character with usually 3 people.

As far as my experience (rank 50 yeah I know I’m still a nub) has gone the only build that works vs eles right now is anything with a hammer for the knockdown. But there is no way for any warrior build that I’m aware of to finish off a D/D Ele. They get right back up heal to full hp and either run circles around you or just take off once they have low HP, then they heal up yet again and are back into the fight before you had a chance to blink there’s no way to catch up to them once they run away at least not on warrior cause to my knowledge great sword doesn’t have that kinda speed, and I’m sure no ones had success killing them with a sword build.

I basically can’t stand the fact that once one of them shows up I’m helpless to do anything but sneeze at them or attempt to run away and call on my big siblings to fight them for me. If they were just bunkers I wouldn’t care cause then it’d make sense they can take that kind of punishment, but the fact that they deal crazy damage, are tankier then bunker guards, and are nearly impossible to catch is just too much in my opinion. I don’t believe any other profession in the game has access to such a diverse build that is basically S rank in each category.

The reason I posted here instead of just Warrior forum is cause I wanted to hear what things people are doing to counter them not just on Warrior. It’s nice to hear what other classes opinions of them are.

Yes, D/D ele is overpowered and everyone who isn’t a D/D ele (actually most, if not all top tier D/D eles admit it’s too strong) or a noob admits it. Still, you should be able to kill them with Rampage as a zerker warrior.

Otherwise I’m not entirely sure what guardian builds if any can beat an ele and such like that. So just coordinate with your ele/necro/thief/mesmer on the team or any combo of those and you’ll be fine.

I play marauder engi and I generally don’t have issues if I can get the jump on them. If I can’t, I run away until their stab is gone AND then get to reking. If a team mate is present, I let the team mate run in while I nuke from afar without any problems, making sure to CC any skills that would give us any problems.

This. Don’t let them might stack, and keep them chilled; it will disrupt their rotations immensely. I get good results fighting D/D eles by spamming weapon swap with sigil of hydromancy. The fight may last a long time, but as long as your power is 2K+ you can kill them 1v1.

Ele can’t 1v3 in high level games. The difference between forums feedback is because of that. I mean, 1v3, including a rampage Warrior, I wish Ele can do that in high level games.

A burning guard can totally win a D/D Ele if they are smart about applying condi after Water. Of course, if you see the trend, most classes need to be smart about fighting an Ele, or bring a +1. That’s why we will never see an end to players complaining about Ele until everyone play smart.

You’re talking about top players facerolling with those specs…those top players have over 7k + games,they know not only their class inside out,but what others can do as well. They could roll any other class and still beat and destroy people. And on topic of top players…how many are there? I’d say 2-3% ( ? maybe,not sure,probably even less..like 0.001) of them could be called top player.

People kittening about d/d ele. D/D ele is not a problem. Sigils and amulet give d/d real power. Vigor was nerfed, so now every ele runs with Energy Sigil and other of their choice. Cele amulet was buffed I think,so pretty much cele is used.
I personally tried to play with no energy sigil and no cele and difference is like night and day. Energy sigil is so strong, cele also of course,because it gives all stats.
If you gonna kitten about burning,ele is not the only class with burning. Guardians have it,engi’s have it(alot of flamethrowers going around) and so on. Yes burning needs to be nerfed across all classes.
Let’s not forget,how it’s manadtory for eles to take Aracna and Water lines in spvp.

And on top of it all, cele ele d/d isn’t immortal as OP post says. They can be focused and if enemy is marauder amulet or even berserk on some mesmers,they land their burst and ele is toast. I think people (myself included) need to learn and adjust to new meta,where every class has 3 full trait lines. Where before,there were some stuff missing/lacking,now those classes got it and people need to learn.

I think a long overdue Burning adjustment would maybe already be enough to bring Ele back to being in a balanced state.

I personally have no problem with Ele being hard to kill, but when they’re dashing out as much dmg as they do now through mostly condition damage (correct me if I’m wrong) you get an imbalance between offensive and defensive capabilities, with which I mean if you build a class tanky you should have to make sacrifices in the damage department and the other way arround.

OP, GW2 is a great pvp game, but it has had constant issues with certain classes being both extremely hard to kill and able to dish out high damage. They change/rebalance things but in the end there is always a few specs like this.

One great thing that came out of the recent changes is that some of the high damage/high survivability builds have been neutered, they just need to heavily nerf ele and Mesmer, and perhaps tweak necro and warrior and burn/guard (tweak as in slightly nerf) a bit. Why d/d ele seems to have constantly been the most OP class in the game (apart from a brief time after launch) is beyond me. Just nerf that kittener and give another class a chance in the sun.

Ironically, in many ways I feel the game was more balanced at launch- but it might just be because people didn’t know how to play/build properly at the start. I will say though that ultimates like Lich and Rampage were no where near as strong at launch, although I am not totally against making ultimates feel more like “ultimate” abilities rather than just another utility.

As an ele main I really wish this stupid burning got toned down. But then after that I don’t know where to start nerfing. Most of damages d/d eles put out are very telegraphed so it can be dodged. Basically after fire skills, air auto, d/d ele has no direct damage other than churning earth (pfftt). But if people really think they should nerf d/d ele, well then buff scepter damage, reduce scepter casting times, completely revamp scepter auto attacks and weapon #2 skills, and I’ll gladly make that trade.

Wrong on so many levels.

Ele is by far one of the most viable classes in PVP and it is for a reason. While it may not need a nerf, other classes need to be brought up to balance to match it. Especially the ranger class. I have seen 4 v 1 against an ele, and while he did die it still took 5 minutes which is ridiculous.

And to say Ele can’t kill anything absurd. Burning in of itself is OP and ele have a trait line dedicated to fire. They shouldn’t be punished for it, but seriously? Even my wonky alt d/d ele does major damage in ranked.

The fight may last a long time, but as long as your power is 2K+ you can kill them 1v1.

And that there is a problem, they can simply go into a point.. keep it and you mindlessly try to fight them while they have it contested racking more points for their team and forcing your other players to get rid of that Ele

I agree on DD ele’s needing a nerf. They were fine the way they were last meta, but they get carried by the burn stacks. There’s two ways to fix this IMO, first would be to increase the cool-downs of the fire attunement skills, or the second option is to reduce the damage of burns. It’s frustrating outplaying a spec such as DD only to see them be immune to either condies, crits, or spam blinds while doing decent damage and able to regen their health. Ele’s are currently the jack of all trades master of all. There was nothing wrong with the last meta except for a few balance patches that should’ve been done here and there, there was more diversity in tPvP in specs, now all I see in Qs are double DD eles, two mesmers or two rampage warriors. This game is getting horrible because of bad devs… Fix you game.

And here I thought Condi Guard and Power Mes hard-countered D/D Cele in addition to D/P Thief and Power Necro now. I guess double the amount of hard counters from meta to meta isn’t enough for some people.

condi guards used to counter d/d ele….. now its the other way around.

Condi guards never countered d/d ele. We just had a higher chance if defeating them in a 1v1 stand off compared to other medi builds. We utterly underperformed in tpvp so it really didn’t matter.

With so many people still attacking me when I have shocking aura on, it’s no wonder I win a lot of fights (as a D/D ele). That’s just one example. You have to play intelligently against a good ele and not just mash buttons (though the same could be said about some other classes).

Can we get that D/D ele nerf please?

GUYS! I have the solution!

Change Cleansing Water. Now D/D Elementalists will be much more vulnerable to conditions. Problem. Solved. I have 4,000 games on my Elementalist, QQ about more about not enough ele condition cleanse, humor me.

What I propose: Raging Waters – Knockback Foes when you attune to water (20 second cooldown)

While you’re at it, get rid of Diamond Skin. It’s a joke trait and always will be.

Only the delusional mesmers and eles won’t admit it. D/D needs a nerf, but they also need to REALLY address water/arcana being OP but ele being worthless without it. The new spec system provides great structure for promoting build diversity, but when you only make changes bi-yearly you will NEVER reach a point where people are using a wide variety of specs. Even within individual tiers, there are many clear “winners” that far over-shadow the other 2 options.

The main thing that needs to be nerfed is ring of fire. Before that skill was fine. You wouldn’t be totally kittened over from having to go though it. Now with 3 stacks of burning every time you go through it, its absolutely insane damage. Why doesn’t flamewall from the focus apply a similar amount of burning stacks when people walk through it. I mean its much easier to not have to walk through, but it does much less damage.

If they made ring of fire apply just one stack of burning, it would be fine.

burning damage on celestial ele is absolutely insane. but I don’t think burning even needs that much of a nerf. I just don’t think a celestial build should be able to pump out that kind of damage. nor should they be able to maintain 20-25 stacks of might.
