As a long time veteran of World of Warcraft, my favorite BG was always Warsong Gulch, others will agree. Even as a 10v10 You could always Prove your worth by carrying the flag, guarding the flag carrier/flag room or killing the enemy flag carrier.
Many situations lead to exciting gameplay. Both teams had two caps, and the enemy flag. And one team would be ballsy enough to take everyone to the enemy with a full 10v10. It gives tanky builds true purpose of flag carrying, CC builds could defend their flag carrier like gods. Healers were a must, and high damage classes pulled off so many game winning assassinations it was insane. Warsong Gulch, the map itself. and the gameplay was in my opinion, game design perfection.
Don’t get me wrong. I 100% prefer Guild War’s combat. The action is simply better. I just believe that it would translate perfectly to a WSG style map.
Possible flaws include full tanky/movement set ups to be too effective. Limit this by reducing/removing the effect of invulns/heals/superspeed/stability/stealth.
A map like this could be epic.
You can easily compare conquest to Aranthi Basin, or more accurately, Battle for Gilneas which was a 3 point cap system. And most PvPers heavily preferred WSG.
Anyway, I highly doubt this will ever be implemented, but I figured I’d voice my opinion and I’d like to hear some feedback.
