So guys i have been playing in this condition meta for quite a long time now and there is one thing i realized..the way torment works is just wrong:

Why?:
- u have to move around all the time in this game so why would you be punished for it?
- necro’s ds #5 skill immobilises ..so here is the question: if it does damage when the enemy moves why would you want to have an immobilise there?
- atm torment is like a stronger bleeding stack and another condition that will be cleansed instead of bleeding because everybody has to move

Suggestion:
- change torment: the target gets x dmg every second and + x dmg every second the target is standing still
So why do this?:
- In this game you should be punished for standing still all the time and just spamming your skills like i see some classes doing
- Also if it is changed like that people can set up combos like “i got torment on him immoblise him! awesome!”

Thats my idea so far just tell me what you think of it

It’d be nice to combo with immobilize, but if don’t have much access to immobilize you won’t get much out of it…

Like you said, when are people ever standing still in this game?

I think punishing movement is ok, but I’d like to see Mesmer have more of it though, especially since mesmers aren’t really the masters of confusion anymore if ever lol.

The idea behind torment is it forces you to put yourself in a bad position for your enemy. If you stop, you die (because you’re easier to hit), if you move you die (because torment kills you).

Regardless, the change you suggest would be great for Thieves and maybe Condi Warriors and very little for Necros due to the fact that the immob doesn’t last very long. Also, in high tier games, people rarely ever stand still unless they are on a ledge far away from melee range.

yea knote but you cant stand still because you get 100 more dmg a second because of one condi..nobody would do that i would make torment deal less dmg every second but more damage when standing still so you can coordinate it perfectly…mesmer can apply torment and then immoblise warris can too and necros as well so it would be nice over all

I think we should leave the system the way it is, maybe decrease the damage while standing still by about 50% and increase the damage dealt while moving by about 10-15%.

The whole point of the game is that standing still IS the punishment on torment. You need to weigh the pros and cons of standing still and taking the direct damage or moving to avoid it and taking increased damage from Torment.

If anything I’d like to see torment application decreased on most classes across the board, but drastically INCREASED on the Mesmer, with a reduction in bleeding application. Confusion and Torment should both be staple Mesmer conditions, because they encourage traditional Mesmer gameplay: Punishing the opponent for acting, and forcing them to weigh the consequences of action vs. inaction.

Torment is stupid. Give it to Warrior is even more stupid. Why?Again a Condi Warrior, you stand still, they burst condi on you. You move, you get less condition but more dams from Torment, esp you can not cleans Torment completely because it’s pale effect. Either way, you dead.Very painful to any class that requires constant moving to stay alive. Remove Torment would be my suggestion.

Torment from necro is basically 6 stacks of bleed if you move.
It immobilizes you to teach the enemy it does less damage and maybe you shouldn’t move.
Obviously if your in a team fight you still need to move.
But if you cant cleanse the 3 stacks of torment or however many you acquired you need to think of a new way to counter it.

Your first option is to blow a CD either a block or invu and sit there. Prolly the worst choice.
2nd you can stealth, through skill or combo field and not move.
3rd teleport to higher ground and do ranged damage from a good positon where not moving isnt so bad.
etc find another way

Its nice to have a mechanic that gives new ways to counter something but I agree it could be better somehow.
Maybe every 5, 10, and 15 yard yards it does a LARGE tick. So you simply are limited in how much movement and can still atleast use 1 dodge.

MY thoughts anyways,
confusion- punishment for using skills
&
torment- punishment for moving aren’t bad, Id like for confusion to be buffed or given something new to it that prevented the crazy spam.

I don’t know how to feel about this; it sounds like a nerf when you first read it, and it definitely is to most classes… but it actually promotes low skillfloor play styles like well necromancers..

I never understood why they added a new condition. It was in no way necessary nor brought more depth to the game. It didn’t even affect the balance situation. No player will see torment in his bar and thinks: " holy kitten, I shouldn’t move". Torment doesn’t make sense at all because it doesn’t promote tactical awareness of the affected player.
