Chieftain and Svanir Frustration
Totally agree here they have to find a way to change it. Various problem:
If you have kill 91% of svanir, how to counter your kill?
I think to have the svanir point a team have to kill more than 75% of svanir AND finish it.
So if an ennemy finish just with one hit nobldy win points !
Your story sounds like you play condies….
Its fine how it is

Tell me you haven’t experienced this…
Red and Blue are neck and neck down the home stretch and hold one point a piece; the other is unclaimed and/or contested.
One of the NPC monsters spawn. You hustle your way over while the enemies are distracted with the rest of your team. Realizing victory will be assured if you kill the beast granting the 25 points, you pop all of your cool downs in an attempt to burn him as fast as possible. You’ve got 91% of the damage. This is it.. you can taste those 1500+ match points for the W…
But wait…
An enemy waltzes in at the last second, hits him once, and steals the kill and your 25 points. You lose the game 515 to 494…Just looking for some opinions here. Should the kill & points be granted to whichever team does the majority of the damage to the beast? Why or why not.
tl/dr: Should Chieftain & Svanir kills/points be awarded to the team dealing the most damage to the NPC beast, or should they be awarded to the team who manages the killing blow?
Stealing mobs is a part of tactic and its a big mistake to go solo and pop up all cd on start of kill mob =\
Stealing bosses is a great mechanic that requires capitalizing on someone’s mistake, map awareness, not to mention very rewarding to pull off, where you essentially gamble your time.
Any other mechanic would just dumb it down to the point where the first person to blindly rush the NPC is heavily favoured, they’d hardly have to think about getting stopped/killed or stolen as long as they put a bunch of conditions up. It’s really fine as is.

Input lag is the annoyance for me, living kinda far from servers it’s just not possible to time an attack to ensure a killing blow, it’s basically just a hail mary which for me makes the killstealing have nothing to do with skill and all to do with luck. Luck in a competitive scene = bad. Always bad. Might just be my prob though
i have to say NPC stealing is one of my favorite things.

Or you could take 51% health from the NPC and then peel. Then the enemy rolls up and kills the NPC and you get the points. That sounds fair…

Rare occasion when i 100% agree with Chaith. Game already got dumbed down by alot, let’s not continue with it.

Here’s a scenario:
Thief takes 51% from NPC, then goes stealth and runs to far point, you roll up and don’t see anyone at NPC so you finish killing it while thief caps far AND gets points for your creature kill….
Are you SURE you would know not to kill it?

OK. Maybe you would have enough awareness, BUT have you seen the stupid kitten people do in matches XD

So when you had 4 teammates camping on mid for the whole match…
those are the people i’m talking about.
The point i’m trying to make is changing the mechanic to most damage gets the points would be worse

If you are still at the level where 4 people are camping home you and your team have a lot more to worry about than boss kills. Boss stealing is a skill. It requires map awareness and skill timing. Lets not remove any more skill based things from this game.

Click the link. I was referring to what Cynz said in a different thread.
beast stealing is fine and working as intended.
The way it is right now is dumb and random. You might as well install a dice and let players just roll for it. Kill credit doesn’t even match how kill credit works for npc’s in the rest of the game. I can see how people are frustrated and confused.

Nope. Not random. Well timed. When I steal w/ my engi, I lead in w/ blast gyro then burst on NPC. I get the steal 90% of the time. Again, not random
I play condi mesmer primarily and I do not see a problem with boss stealing. You take the risk by engaging the boss, no one is forcing you to engage it and with all risks you aren’t always rewarded. Paying attention to map politics is important, did your team just wipe the enemy team at mid and you have 1 guy keeping them busy at far? That’s usually a good time to engage boss as there is very little risk. However if you decide to engage boss with 2 or 3 players on your team dead or in downed state that is bad tactics and if you get it ninja’d that’s your fault. I’ve had games similar to OP where its near the end of a very close match and a boss kill decides it, I’ve lost and won games both ways, it happens. One reason you don’t see ESL teams going for bosses in tournaments is this exact reason, good players know it’s not worth the risk of getting it ninja’d unless you had just wiped the enemy team and there isn’t much to do. Map control > 25pt bosses.

If any of these proposed changes were made, it would completely change the priority of beasts as objectives. The beasts would become primary objectives rather than secondary objectives and Forest would begin to feel like Stronghold, where NPC killing is priority over player killing.
The current design for “how to get credit for the kill” is fine as it is.
Forest has always been the 2nd most popular map, clearly due to good design.
Be careful what you ask for.
Do what I do: focus the thief/mes/whoever. You can 2v1 them with svan’s help, then kill svan XD
You know you can go steal their beast the same way, it’s not an unfairness exclusive to you. It puts a great little bonus into the play, I’ve had sure wins stolen this way.
