The mistake in all of this was sending a team vs 2 PUG groups. No one wants to watch that.

If they wanted an all-stars tournament, there should have been a max of 2 people per team sent. That would have made the event exciting.

CH was destroyed. It was that simple. This was no proper battle. they litterally got rekt in every match and aspect, be it 3v3 or 1v1.

Isnt china like a couple billion people. 250 such a small number. Like microscopic compared to a couple billion.

To be honest I totally forgot when the game was gonna happen and had no clue it was happening until I got bored on forums. This games advertising for these major live games need some serious improvement if you ask me. I know now when the NA China one is now, ONLY because some random poster posted it, but that time CEST, why you use that timezone when you on American forums and if any a tiny amount of americans in CEST timezone. This isn’t no European forum… I swear they are LAZY sometimes, you’d think some people confuse it with EST… And its not on but they wanted to watch it. Some people wanted to watch game but too lazy to look up that timezone and convert it to there timezone. All it takes is to change it and make it American friendly for the NA forums and I’m sure they’d have couple more hundred if not thousand. Also, to make it on the game update screen, games friggin going on, come watch. If they don’t get the results they wanted, they really have NO ONE to blame but themselves.

Another thing, with current technology you should be able to decipher peoples location and have a program that always gives the time in there timezone. Whether it be by IP address, or gathering information such as the clock from their computer. Simple stuff like that is what will break you or make you into becoming successful. As they say. Timing is everything.

do like i do. I live in EU, thus i use this nifty thing that windows provides. The ability to display several clocks at once.
So even though my real time is GMT +1, i have a EST and PST clock too just to keep track of events.

If you got windows installed, like most people who play games do, then you can spend approximately 2-3 minutes to set this up and never wonder about release times ever again.

If GW2 is satisfied with the numbers they are getting then good for them. But if they aren’t, they need to be looking at reasons why they aren’t getting viewership and attack those reasons why, and I already mentioned a few.

To that guy talking about his clock program.. Theres apps and programs for pretty much everything, but not everyone uses them to its potential. Like theres an app that you scan a bar code on what you plan to purchase on your smartphone and it tells you other locations that have that item and how much they are selling it for so you can goto the cheapest place for whatever your trying to get. But is everybody using this? Nope. You think everyone uses your clock program compared to googling it themselves? Nope. In marketing your cater to the customer, you don’t give them some weird instructions and expect them to follow through. You marketing anet people need to leave no reason at all for not getting the high amount of viewership you desire.

Also I bet you a majority of people that play GW2, like 95% of them, wont even know about the China vs USA tournament tomorrow. Wont even know the address of the live twitch. And you know what. Its the people at anet fault because of that and nobody else. Theres no reason at all why you shouldn’t be getting 10,000 or 100,000+ people viewing it on twitch, if your doing what your suppose to be doing and marketing it. Don’t go putting your blame on the playerbase.

on the third answer , you can see that chinese players uses other livestreams .

twitch.tv while it streamed other games , had 5400 viewers .
while gw2 started it jumped to 6700 .
the first 25 min it dropped to 5600 , while they where trying to showcase each player’s class+trait+ abilities

It wouldn’t have mattered anyway. Team vs PUG. The team will win every time unless the team is really bad. The best team in the game vs PUG is even more embarrassing.

The matchups are a joke. ANET should just randonmly put the 15 players on the 3 teams. At least then we’d have a competition.

I know one guy that plays for China, Nocturne Z, he played on NA the entire time so don’t be saying stuff like, “they aint had enough time of GW2”. Pretty sure theres 2 other people besides him that played on NA before going to China as well.

Couldn’t agree more, the problem with the streams is, theres like 2 or 3 fights going on and most of the times people want to see a different fight than what the streamers are streaming. Also people want to ride whoever there favorite player is.

Thing is back before September 2013 the developers mentioned improvements in the spectating as in more people could spectate a game… Nothing has changed since and it has been long and forgotten thing. This was back when we had relationships with the developers monthly through ‘State of the Game’.

Whole year passes by, hotjoin has been ruined, glory system has been ruined. Only thing they really added was a tab that lets you put on armor which you could already do through the hero screen (no change really, just another silly tab), and a reward track.

A silly tab and a reward track is what we got in a years time. They deleted glory, glory vendors, (pretty much everything you worked hard for.. PvP exclusive things like Soldiers backpack on vendors deleted, all those Match Win Reward chests DELETED, and you say you had over half a million glory saved… Deleted), and ruined hotjoins in that years time as well. Nothing but a bunch of deletions with a silly tab and a reward track in a year.

The camera is a big issue for spectators.

Objects causing unexpected zooming is very annoying. Objects not gaining transparency for spectator’s to view more easily is something else that should be addressed.

As a Chinese, I can tell u that is not true.
Some of them are not even regarded as the best players in China. But they do somewhat represent the highest or close to the highest level of playing in China.

its more like combat to fast for viewers (and even for the players)
there are like 15 actions at a time while a viewer could realize only 1 or something

its annoying to watch cause noone understand whats going on – only thing viewers can follow is the downstate and the fight for the rezz^^

Pretty much. The gap in map awareness, rotational savvy and even in individual mechanical skill was pretty steep. The EU team could consistently force the matchups they wanted and never looked anything less than comfortable cruising to victory. You could see that ROM absolutely relished the opportunity to take the 1v1 versus the warrior, which he knew he could dominate. The 1v3 jukes on Henge during the Forest game were real.

Sorry mate, ain’t from murica. Never set my foot in the states. however i used to play games with a guy who studied in china. And yes, a LOT is either directly or indirectly controlled or moderated by the government, although yes it has become a bit more liberal over there thanks to western nations telling the chinese gov to stop oppressing and controlling their people.

yeh, im watching it as i type this… twitch is buffering so slow i can only watch 10 min then buffer for an hour…. never had this prob before. Prolly due to heaps of gamescom streams going on.

China got rekt, again. I feel sorry for them, they didn’t deserve such a defeat. NA team, though, really acted as a team and not an agglomerate of pugs, like someone said. Moreover, they didn’t follow the Bunker meta, running mostly DPS dealing builds. I’m looking forward to the EU vs NA match-up, tomorrow at 18:20 CEST.

After seeing NA vs China I’m not that sure. As I stated, I think that NA acted more like a team than what was legitimately to be expected.

EU is unkillable with tage as best bunker guard and sizer as best thief.
it will not be close, it will be a win for EU with over 100 points difference.

Don’t be too pessimistic, man! PvP will be alive at least another year. In another 12+ months we will get another balance patch and balance might finally be achieved in time for the next esports.

yeah…i remember ppl saying that one year ago…

EU will win over NA.
EU is full TM roster, they have experience playing with their comp and eachother vs. NA who is a bunch of people from random top teams.
One big issue with China IMO is Mrtime. He seems like he has 0 idea who is where and doesn’t do his main job as a roamer/thief – decapping points. In the vs. NA match, at one point there was a 5v5 on Henge, both Keep and Mine were free to capture. If he left the fight and got a decap or maybe even a full cap on those points, China would probably do a lot better, I don’t think they would win but they wouldn’t loose in such high point difference as they did. There were a lot of other scenarios, but this is the first one that came to my mind.
Generally China was at a massive disadvantage from the start just due to the fact that they only got the game what, 3 months ago? I know some people there played on NA servers but still.

I wish that they played on Kyhlo and Foefire a bit as well..

EU vs NA, 3 – 0. I thought that NA could at least win 1 match, but it was an easy win for TM.

Absolutely masterful. Anyone thinking that bunker guard is on its way out of the meta can go have a chat with Tage. Still, I wouldn’t pick any single player above others, as the whole EU team played with such cohesion and decisive precision. Their performance really didn’t leave any doubts as to which side was the superior team. EU reminds me of the old Team Paradigm in one regard, both teams are/were very good in kittening up the opposition’s rotations. NA, like China, found themselves rotating into fights they really should not be taking, and even when NA succeeded in downing a few bodies, EU always managed to maintain enough map presence to secure their point income. Dominant stuff.

I hope someone can successfully challenge Team Mist at ToL2. It would be great for the scene.
