A Leaderboard were only guilds are displayed.
If you qeue with a full guildgroup you’re get ranked in this leaderboard and only face other guild groups. To avoid that one guild change the guild during the match because of losing you can lock the guild tab while the match. Or another option would be to place a new NPC in the mists where you have to register that guild you want to play with.

Yes. I just changed the topic because much people doesn’t know that system. It was a ladder system where guilds can challenge each other and only the 2. and 3. were able to challenge the 1st spot.
The clanbase system were based on the ELO – System, correct me if i’m wrong, f.e. LoL is using it. But that topic is not about to change the GW2 rating system.
I don’t think the population is to low. Look, why should people play with a guild or team when they get ranked solo. And people can play both, guild leaderboard + solo leaderboard. On the one side you find out who is the best solo player and the other hand the best guildgroup, 2 seperate leaderboards doesn’t mean it will end up in low population. There will be guilds who have a maximum amount of players, f.e 6 players. 4 of them playing till evening solo because the 5th player is missing but in the evening they gonna do some tPvP matches. Both leaderboards would be active in any way just to different times.
Of course guild leaderboard won’t be that big because that are teams, take 1000 players from soloQ who play in the evening tPvP – you would have 200 guild groups ranked which is okay imo.
ah, do you mean they will be fighting together (current ranked arena player population pool), but ranked differently in a separate guild / team based leader board?
yes. you just get ranked in guild leaderboard if you currently got a group out of 5 guild players
ah, i see. in that case, this might encourage players to group together more often with their guild members, and to fight more battles to increase their guild’s fame or notoriety or infamy etc.
