Class Tier List- Post December 10th Patch
Gotta check what exactly will make into patchnotes, but if everything stays how is in the 10th dec preview, my list would be:
1- Warrior (nerf to hammer damage wont change much, it can still apply too much condition while being the toughest aroung)
2- Mesmer
3,4,5- Engineer/Guardian/Necro (can’t decide yet, nerf to permavigor will hit engi pretty bad, and the new guardian heal looks promising, necro is necro )
6- Ranger
Decent gap here, and then
7-Ele
8-Thief
Hope to see ele’s go up a bit, the patch notes looks promising but it’s not enough i think..ele is way behind other classes right now
You dont know much about the thief obviously^ D/p is extremely strong after this buff. Like I said, its only a nerf for the low class shadow arts d/p thieves.
Thief builds before Dec.10 patch:
-D/P trickery thief
-D/P shadow arts thief
-S/D acrobatics thiefAfter Dec.10 patch:
-D/P trickery thief
Now if you see a thief, you know he’s using D/P and is glass cannon. Besides with mesmer buff and shift to bunker meta thief is dead.
This patch is a lot of things, but a buff it’s not.
My issue being that Anet seems to think that constantly merging thieves is the solution to diversity. While I agree sd needed to be nerfed they did it the wrong way. I’m willing to bet that the next nerf will be a sizeable one to D/P in order to ‘allow more thief builds to manifest in the meta’ when D/P does not need nerfing =\

Not my fault you cant play a trickery thief. Trickery thieves are incredible. I will still play mine and will still love it.
Rangers won’t have the midfight like they used to but they will certainly own sidepoint as they always have.
Ele, Mesmer, and Warrior are going to be in a much stronger position for sides than Ranger now. I think this patch is the end of Condi Ranger at sides.

Do you think shortbow needs to be nerfed to allow other weapons to be buffed? I’m no thief expert, but as far as I can tell, shortbow is practically mandatory. If shortbow were nerfed, and other weapons were buffed, would build diversity improve?

I love how ele’s are still at the bottom of most people’s tier lists.
Ironic considering they got some of the “biggest” changes (which did absolutely nothing to fix the core issues).
Just from my experience playing some (not a final verdict)
Tier S
Mesmer
Guardian (dps guardian very good now)
Tier A – good and solid
Warrior (although haven’t seen many, I guess perceived reduction in ezmode drove off many)
Necro
Engie
Thief
Ranger
Tier B – underperforming
Ele (buffs don’t really change anything)
More tested needed, but the largest change is that mesmers are out in droves and enjoying being OP as anything. DPS guardians are doing insane damage with great survivability. Power Rangers are hitting like trucks, although I think there is a bug giving them perma-fury.
Considering this thread is based completely off of conjecture and speculation (I mean, the patch wasn’t even out yet), I’m going to lock it. Feel free to make a new one after you’ve experimented with the changes.
