What if in a tpvp match you have 5 members plus a coach? The coach has access to map mode and spectator view, and is able to call shots and direct the team just like a football, basketball, or baseball coach.

Like “Jordan go treb now. Split to mine and henge 1-2. Double team their bunker!” Lol, you get the idea.

It would add another member and a deeper element to the pvp scene.

TBH i do not like the idea of this. I do appreciate and understand where you’re coming from, but this would not be a good addition to GW2 pvp.

At the same time, it’ll still be possible for a “spectator” to act as a coach so I guess it wouldn’t matter what I feel.

I thought spectator mode would be a nice feature but i’m actually a bit on the fence about it. I mean, i really would enjoy watching matches and seeing different people’s tactics with their professions.

Agree with you there, but then again if/then spectormode comes both team will decide if they allowing other teams teammates watcthing as specator so.

I’m not sure if the PvP scene is big enough for this to be worthwhile. But I’m unsure.

Though I personally think some sort of replay system would do wonders for PvP, and overall class balance. I think a replay system would be a way to educate people about other classes and understand strategies. Maybe it would help remove all these misinformed posts on the forums. Or even we could somehow download the replay and tell them what they did wrong, kinda like SC2 replays or something. I would really look forward to a replay system, or a delayed spectator mode.

Rather than watching as it happens, it would be nice to do so retroactively. It would be like film study and seeing what you did wrong and what the team could have done better.

But yea Malmstrm, I’m not certain how Anet is going to implement spectator mode and I hope they’re careful about it

So you want to add a built in map hack that tells you where all enemy players are too? But being serious who would ever want to be a coach? Kitten that I would much rather be playing.

Just an idea to start some discussion. There would fionitely be ppl wanting to “coach.” Just like there are shoutcasters.

But I look back and think coaching is a bad idea because the level of instant feedback is too much and makes it to necessary to have a coach. It’s not like in basketball the players have headset and coach can give them instant instructions lol.

And yeah Anet needs to watch out for abusive Spectators who inform the other team and act as spies.

I don’t like that idea, let teams do the job. And about abusing spectator mode, easy fix is to make 1 min delay and it’s fixed . I never played LoL, but I think that’s what they did there.

Replays and time-delayed spectator mode are all I would want. Afaik ANet is aware of this and will do it eventually.
