So this is what collaborative development means for the balance changes:

1, They make a series of changes with (mainly) nerfs which are BARELY adequate and still leave all the lame, power-creeped cheese largely in check.

2, Some terrible players QQ about “my spec will be ruined!” because they can’t see past their own spec/class to the good of the game.

3, Anet show they listen by removing half the nerfs which were barely adequate to reverse the power creep and fix this game with its awful PvP experience.

So what was the point. Well, the point is a giant PR exercise. Listening to your customers in a reasonable way is fine. But have the balls to follow you convictions please devs. If you (as you said) believe that you need to reverse the power creep then how about actually having the guts to do it. And not just fold to QQ from baddies on the forums who just QQ about their terrible specs or lame OP specs being “nerfed”.

It is so awful. One look at the “changes” they have made to the prospective balance changes show they are all reversals of kittening nerfs. Well how about you take this feedback:

NERF ALL THE LAME kitten

There. That is my feedback. Now please actually act on it. The balance changes were borderline not enough to fix half this kitten before we even gave feedback. And now you are reversing half of it. It is so depressing to consider that we are waiting 4 months for balance patches which are being watered down by idiots on the forums just so you can show you “listen”.

O and keep buffing engi healing whilst nerfing stun warriors dps please. That will end well.

Haven’t been around much. Been waiting till December to bother playing, in turn I haven’t been keeping up.

But if what your saying is true (I barely had a chance to recheck the changes post) then yeah I agree. The nerfs should not just be reversed, power creep is to much of a problem and spammy no risk high reward builds need to go.

If your class is getting nerfed wait till the patch and try it. Odds are it looks worse on paper than it does in practice.

@A-net: if you guys test this stuff properly why are you listening to forum cries who don’t even have access to it yet? (Btw get a PTR so people can test it and don’t need to cry about stats on paper)

Its not the collaborative development that is the problem. Its A-nets super incremental approach to balance. They are afraid to ever do anything bold. That has nothing to do with collaborative development. Many games have used collaborative development and many of them had no problems nerfing the heck out of things when it was warranted: Dark Age of Camelot, Warhammer, and Rift to name three.

Two thief vigor nerfs and one necro condition nerf have already been reversed. The main enjoyment I get from pvp in this game atm is moaning about it on the rare occasion we mess around doing it. It really is horrible.

Yeh, I’ve never seen a game before when the standard “IF YOU NERF MY CLASS I WILL QUIT!!11!!!” posts are actually influentially. In gw2 they are. lol

do you really want to balance the game? start by giving steady weapons and celestial amulet to every character THEN watch numbers.
