Colorful PVP maps make a difference
I agree, they need some uplifting colors in this game. Sometimes it feels like i am playing dark fall. The mist itself needs some serious work, such a depressing gloomy kitten land scape, my god. At least add some kind of day/night cycle and maybe keep the gloomy foggy mist for night time. Seriously.
I honestly think it deters people. They go from beautiful vistas like lions arch down into this kittenabyss known as the mist, which suffers from the “its daytime out but theres no sun” effects of games back in like 2001. That kitten just kittens with your brain.
Time spent staring at the map is time not spent winning the match
Need far more colors. Just staying in the mists makes me depressed.
Mist is bland agreed, but its not really an explorable area so I guess they did not spice it up much.
Mists – depressing
Forest – poor gamma and boring secondary mechanic
Legacy – see previous
Other than that it’s okay, wouldn’t mind TotSS getting more vivid though.
Forest is very drab.
Foefire always catches my eye with the vibrant greens, love this map visually.
Kyhlo is dark and whatever, who fights over a 5 acre parsel anyways?
Temple needs more snow.
Khylo is the best map, period. Colors in the Mists are nice and not aggravating. Capricorn is non functional pathetic excuse of a pvp map. PvP in general is half baked, work harder ANet

It in fact makes HotM less colourful. I still use it, because Legacy gets some colour with post-processing.
I already play with postprocessing disabled. First because it makes everything less colorful. Second, because it has that glow affect the makes it look like you smeared Vaseline all over your screen.
If you like to stream gameplay, then I would highly suggest disabling this postprocessing otherwise and makes your video look really blurry.
If you think part of the mists looks nice, then I suggest you go out and look at what the rest of the world and Guild wars two has to offer. Part of the mists can even compare to the beauty of certain areas in the game. The PVP maps are also a terrible comparison with the aesthetic environment design in the rest the game.
Obviously you don’t stare at the map and admire its beauty in a PVP game. You’re busy fighting. But the colors and atmosphere of the PVP map has a subconscious effect while you are killing other players. You get bored was quickly if the map is visually attractive. For all those who hate the conquest mode in combination of unkillabe bunkers, the boredom is only multiplied by the total colors found on forest of NIF.
But the fighting game like Street fighter and how colorful it is. Yet you’re not sitting there admiring the pretty colors of Street fighter, but it certainly adds to the atmosphere and subconsciously to how you perceive the game.
