Coming back to the game after year of break
Well, I’ll try to give you a QQ-free answer. In top-tier tournaments, three celestial builds in particular tend to shine: engineer, elementalist and warrior. But really, every class is now reasonably strong. Ranger is a bit too predictable to fit in top teams, but does just fine everywhere else.
To pick a profession, I’d say go with engineer. It’s not too difficult to be efficient with it, while being a lot more challenging than most of the other professions. You also have a lot of viable condi builds you can choose from, in addition to the most played celestial build (which is not really better, it’s more of a trend). Necromancer will be easier to learn, but your role and positioning could be a bit more difficult to get used to. You’ll have the supreme advantage of killing every engi you run into in the blink of an eye.
State of pvp is the best it has ever been… at least that’s what the anet news announcement show.
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
are mesmers still decent
yes, but u need higher skill now than before to be effective.
otherwise, welcome back. nothing much to say. meta is different but it’s not really any better or more fun. game is dominated by a handful of builds and maybe half the profs. most of us are waiting for the cele nerf, the new specializations and the new game mode. not much to look forward to until the summer.

is that wrong?

Nope. Ask a dev

The Meta did have a change on pure bunkers to more hybrid celestial tanky builds with more damage output. Guardian bunkers are still good but not as what they used to be, dps guardian is becoming more popular these days in the high tier specially hammer guardian. You can’t go wrong with any of the classes maybe rangers but they seem to be getting there little by little.
