Completely Unjustified Chaos Armor Change?
I’m guessing the thought is that staff mesmers are already fairly tanky in their ability to warp. Adding 5 secs of protection on a very easily self combo’d field along with their elusiveness was probably why. I’m no mesmer and I don’t think mesmers needed any nerfs, but very quick, repeated access to protection isn’t something a lot of classes have.
I think it’s justified because Mesmers are purple and Barney is purple and Barney was a dinosaur and dinosaurs are extinct.
But I agree putting things more into RNG world is so…not attractive.
If there are no purple dinosaurs on Endor you must acquit.

when it comes to mez nerfs, don’t even try to find a justification because there’s none. This class is their nerf machine class… i think i’ve only seen 2 patches without a mez nerf out of what? 20…
I thought this change was pretty kittened until I tried it in pvp. The RNG is at least working now. Enemies are getting loaded with conditions when they hit me with chaos armor, prot uptime is good, though yes I do absolutely miss the on-demand prot.
So, for rezzing or surviving a big hit when you’re out of endurance/immo, this is a pretty harsh nerf. However, the blind royally screws with melee. Chaos armor will actually save you from a thief now.
It’s a buff if you play it right. I’m sort of sorry for all my knee jerk kittening.
And another bonus. The chaos armor from combo fields actually grants protection like it should So staff5+2= Chaos armor and protection when they hit you (come on people are gonna spam hit you when you have chaos armor on) and the staff #4…. Think of it this way. Its finally and I mean FINALLY working as intended across all fields.
Hmmm I didn’t know they fixed the bug.. I thought they’d never fix that because it was impossible to fix like leap pathing.. I think you can have about 15 seconds of chaos armor uptime if you have a nullfield… this may actually a buff then………..shhhh no one say anything

That would work if Chaos armor disabled the Mesmer, genius.
Chaos armor before the patch was useless save for the on demand protection. It is way better now and people should seriously check in game first before running to the forums to QQ.

Why does op want the chaos armor in certain way just to counter thief? If a staff mes vs a thief 1 v1 for a point the mes has already won.

I wish the kitten thing would stack though -_- at a set 5 C/D you only trigger 3 boons and 3 conditions with the internal c/d it’d be much more reliable if you could stack the armor instead of having to attempt to reapply it every 5 seconds

I think this threads QQ over what is a BUFF encapsulates everything that is wrong with the sPvP players and “competitive” players in general.
So much kneejerk nonsense instead of rational thinking and testing.
Aside the discussion about the Chaos Armor effects, now Staff 4th skill needs something.
It has NOTHING more that a combo’ed chaos armor. Which wouldn’t be a problem per se – except it’s on a huge 35 sec CD for a feasible 5 sec duration, with no additional bonuses/mechanics apart being istant.
At very very very least a CD reduction is in order.
Most used: Guard/Mes/War/Nec/Ele.

Yea kneejerk reaction my bad :/ I just figured since the bug has been around since basically beta it was a feature and was never going to be fixed, reading the patch notes made it sound like CA was now nerfed to the the bugged version from fields.
Also; if you did decrease CA cd or made CA stack in duration I think we’d see a lot more tank/condi mesmers..
