Condition Thief
Caltrops Thief is blatantly broken. They can stack bleeds on you too fast. While Anet fix them (if they fix it, but i doubt it), the only thing you can do is trying to go out of the caltrops. Hit him is very difficult cause he will be evanding the 99% of the time.
Caltrops won’t cover the entire area because it’s circular. Find the blind spot on the corner and stand in it.
Use your condition removal when you reach 18 stacks. By this time, assuming you dodged caltrops and the thief used all his initiative, your condition removal and heal should reset the fight. The thief will also reset by stealthing.
After this, time your knockbacks when LDB ends, get a slow on the thief and kite him around the point. Despite the animation LDB only has 130 range. Any slow will cut that in half and will require him to be on top of you to actually hit with LDB.
If you can’t kill him in time and caltrops are back up, same thing as the start, except this time use Elixir R to wipe the bleed stacks.

Every thief is blatantly broken. Anet, why won’t you make thief a free kill? They shouldn’t be allowed to do burst damage, they shouldn’t be allowed to be mobile, stealth is OP, AND their condition options are too good! When Oh When will you dumb down this game for us???
As for OP, DB only condition thieves are actually pretty easy to beat if you know what to look for.
A) DB is a very initiative intensive bleedstack. If you can dodge even 1, the thief is down 5 init. Once you’ve got a good number of stacks going, just cleanse conditions and you’re at an advantage.
B) DB cant be “spammed” – there’s always a chance to hit the thief between when they land from DB, and before they use another. Learn the timing and apply CC on landing.
C) Never ever ever stand in caltrops. Treat it like any other AoE, if you stand in it, you will die.
pre-ordered HOT at this point,
save yourself the money and don’t bother.
I’m not a thief, but as a condition necro I can tell you that all condition builds suffer when front loading tons of bleed stacks only to have them removed. It’s the difference between doing ~5k damage over like 3 seconds and 15k over 10. I would advise taking 2 different forms of condition removal.
CC also helps, as the more time they spend in the fight without conditions on you, the more damage they are taking while doing next to nothing. Don’t bother blowing any cooldowns while he is using LDB, as it will auto-evade.
Also, use conditions yourself. Thieves typically have fairly low condi-removal. Even if he has fairly high survivability the flat damage your bleeds / burns do will hurt bad if he can’t get rid of them.
translation:
I play a glasscannon build, I don’t want to run condition removal and cover bases like that, I want to crack skulls and pwn nubz. Please nerf condition thieves so that they’re as easy to kill as spirit weapon guardianz and glascannon ele’s.
They fixed Ranger shortbow bleeding stacks, I dont understand why they dont have to fix all that insane thief bleeds stacking.
18,000 damage in 150 ticks.. that doesn’t seem too insane. Perhaps you should work on your build and get some more condition removal. I would much rather have a thief take 5 seconds stacking bleeds on me that I could remove, than a thief hitting steal, cd, backstab for 19k in one second.
There are so many things in this game to whine about (especially with thieves), condition damage is one of the few you can actually counter.
I play a condition thief.
It’s not the DB spammers you need to worry about. It’s the DB thieves who take their time and work you down. Unless you’re not carrying some form of condition removal on your team. In which case…
QQ moar.
what a Thief will say? its OP?
Nobody with an OP class say is a OP class
150 Bleeding HIT mean 1 thin, i have no chance to survive

Every fought a Necro stacking bleeds? lol
dabu, what if i say you that condition thief is the most safe way to kill an engi?
and what is your opinion if instead of you died to a condition thief, this was a thread where a burst thief died to a tanky/bomb spam engi?
or what if you died to a conditionmancer?
Engi shouldn’t have that much trouble. If necessary slot the condition removal on elixir use trait. Or just use elixer gun + kit refinement to do the removal for you. Don’t stand in the trops and you should do ok. Especially if you can time a knockback right to hit as they are landing before they can start the next DB.
That build is a tough cookie if you don’t run with condition removal, or are a necro haha. I take great pleasure from letting them stack their bleed up high and then sending it back to them. It’s still a one trick pony though, and they don’t have a lot of other conditions to protect the bleed with so really, try some condition removal, it works.

Exactly. I can at least understand the hate against burst thiefs, even if imo it is unfounded. But crying about a condition build? get a condition removal. The thief just literally used up ALL. HIS. ABILITY. TO. FIGHT. in the first secs, and you are still alive for a while. Use any one of your condition removals and make him pay.
